So Mum got me a big 6.5” x 24” ruler and a big mat to match. I love my mum. So I used my big ruler for everything, even squaring up HSTs. Overkill much?!
Then I discovered rulers came in other sizes and shapes. Didn’t quite understand why til I went to a quilting class and discovered how much easier it was to trim small things with small rulers.
Now I am slowly adding to my ruler stash. A 4.5” square, an 8” square (which disappeared during the move, sad), and my new toy that is as yet still unopened!
A triangle ruler!
The nearest craft shop is about 50min drive away so when Mum mentioned she was heading that way I asked her to pop in and grab me a triangle ruler. I wanted one that did at least 7” (planning to join in Bloom Bloom Pow!). Well Mum must have remembered Random Quilting Lady’s advice, so she got the biggest one she could find. It goes up to 12”. Awesome. One triangle ruler to rule them all and one giant ruler to rule them all, and a couple of smaller ones to do the menial tasks.
My quilt world is happy.
