Moving right along

I've never been much of one to have a bunch of wips waiting for my sewing attention. But lately I seem to have quilters ADD. I have two current wips and three planned (do they count?). That sounds like a lot to me! So I am anxious to at least get one of the currents to finished stage so I feel less buried under unfinished quilts.

So remember my crazy amounts of indecision on how to finish the edges of my owl quilt? I bit the bullet and just went ahead and did it! I even added some little feature flowers (Riley Blake fabric - love love) to the stripes.

But it's still a wip as it remains a quilt top. Now I'm trying to decide if I'm going to quilt it or make it a doona cover. This one is destined for my Quiet Play shop, and I've found most of my customers want doona covers for single beds. See my dilemma? More thought needed. I should have named my blog that - More thought needed. I feel like it's the story of my life at the moment!.

So next wip - Diamonds in Squares. No more done on that since I last posted with more indecision on how to edge this one. Thinking it'll be white border, colour border, white border, binding. Now to get that plan out of my head and into fabric.

Curious about the three planned quilts?

First quilt in planning: is no more than a pinterest board currently, but gosh do I need to get a move on. It's for my sister's 30th birthday. Which is in May. You know, the month that comes after the next one. Oh did I mention she wants it king sized? Yep, better get a move on. Well I will once I can discuss it with her. Which will be when she gets back from schmoozing with the NZ high commissioner, CEO of NZ Aviation and other big wigs in India on a conference. My sister has the most amazing life. I feel very boring. But! I love you NelleNelle!(Else I would not be considering making a king size quilt!!!)

Second quilt in planning: This one I have the fabric and I'm ready to cut it today. A gazillion browns with an as yet undecided background colour. Guess I should get on that. The pattern is the "I'm a weiner" baby quilt from Boo Davis' book - yep same place as the owl quilt further up in this post.  This one is for my cousin and his partner who have two little daschund doggies that they adore. And I mean adore. The dogs have their own facebook pages. That are regularly updated.

And finally the third quilt in planning:  this one - I'm making for my Mum and step dad. I really love this fabric but had no excuse to buy it. So I talked my Mum into loving the fabric as much as I do and it'll be a quilt for her. Sneaky sneaky. Fabric is on its way.

I have purchased this Sweet Lush bundle from the Sew Fabulous Quilt Shop on Etsy.

And here's a picture of the French Kisses quilt design I'm planning to use (posted with permission from Traceyjay quilts). The pattern is due to be released very soon - ooh I can't wait! I think this is going to be stunning in Lush!

I just realised... If I combine the fabric name and the pattern name, my future quilt will be called Sweet Lush French Kisses. Did I mention this quilt is for my mum? Oh dear. If this doesn't send me into quilting therapy I don't know what will. Must decide on a new quilt name, asap

Well that's all folks! Think that's enough to keep me busy for awhile?

Linking up to WiP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced - pop over and see what everyone else is up to :)

  1. Your post made me laugh and laugh. Especially the part about talking people into loving the fabric you love! I'm pretty sure you're not the only one who has done/will continue to do that! Your projects all look great.

  2. Love the added flowers to the owl quilt border...If you make it a doona cover, do you keep the seams on the back of the quilt exposed on the inside or do you line it? I really like this pattern to but you could shorten it to 'Flush Kisses' maybe.

  6. I love the quilts from the Boo Davis book. The pink owl is so cute! I try not to have too many projects going at once either-- makes me feel stressed when I have unfinished business.

  14. I love the flowers you put in the border on the owl quilt! Deciding on how to border a quilt really is the worst! There are so many different directions you can go. I didn't border mine, but I am having horrible indecision about the binding (and two days left before I gift it!). The French Kisses quilt is going to be so pretty with Sweet Lush!
