Yet More LEGO Star Wars Blocks

Oh yes. I’m dragging this progress out. Well they are paper pieced blocks and we all know paper piecing is fiddly and time consuming. So 32 paper pieced blocks… it’s going to take me some time.
I’m making progress though! 12 blocks done! Woohoo!

Paper Pieced LEGO Star Wars blocks progress

In case you actually counted them, yes there are only 11 showing in this photo. I have another lightsaber done but I couldn’t work it into the picture in an aesthetically pleasing way. So I left it out.

See? That extra block just makes it look a bit messy. Those colours are a bit more accurate to real life though – I took it a bit earlier in the day.

The new additions need a moment in the spotlight (and in case you can’t tell who they are!) may I present:

Princess Leia

and Anakin Skywalker
Paper pieced LEGO Anakin

While currently being firm members of the no-face family, they will receive faces eventually and look a bit more like the characters they are meant to represent.

Both of these patterns are listed in my Craftsy shop as freebies, along with some other LEGO Star Wars and DC superhero pals.

So why the sudden rush on blocks? My fabric order finally showed up – it’s a long two weeks for orders to get here from the US but worth it. Now I have a bunch more Sketch and Color Weave for my blocks, as well as replenished my supply of Kona Robin’s Egg blue for the backgrounds, and Kona Ice Peach for the faces. I’m a happy paper piecer. Particularly now I feel like I’m making real progress with these blocks.

Yay for progress :)

P.S. Nearly forgot to add! One of the awesome pattern testers Monica made a great Chewbacca block - turned out fab with lots of batiks! Monica has kindly offered to send this to anyone who might want a Chewbacca of their own but isn't game to try to piece it themselves! If you're interested, drop me a line (kristyqp at gmail dot com) and I'll let Monica know. First in best dressed ;)

  12. I was going to ask about Chewy. I'm so far behind on some paper piecing projects, that I don't know if I'll ever get to these lovely SW patterns. Chewy is a favorite in this house.

    1. Well... I did only plan to make a 4 block cushion... Somehow that morphed into a quilt so you may be wise not to share unless you want to be paper piecing for the next few years hehe

  27. Such a shame you're not into Star Trek (Original series and Next Generation, especially) - I'd love to see those blocks and would probably make them into quilts for my dad and a friend and me and my sister and....lots of trekkies in my life. Haha, sorry for hijacking. It's okay to love Star Wars, especially with such funky sewing results as yours!
