Halfway.

I think I can. I think I can. I think I can. I’m the little quilter that could. Halfway through the LEGO Star Wars quilt and I’m worried I’m running out of puff!

I am however halfway through the blocks. That does make me happy. I have 11/16 people blocks done and 5/16 lightsabers done. I need to work a bit more on those lightsabers and get that number up. I hate making the same block over and over so I think that’s where I’m struggling a bit. But I’ll get there. I know I can. I know I can.

Paper pieced LEGO Star Wars blocks halfway done

I don’t know why that pic went blurry. Sorry. Too tired to go take another one!

While having a Game of Thrones marathon (finally started watching it so I could see what all the fuss was about!) I managed to get four new blocks added to the list.

The most difficult of all the LEGO Star Wars blocks – Ahsoka Tano.

Paper pieced LEGO Ahsoka Tano

I won’t lie. There was some  a lot of unpicking in this one to get her stripes to line up! Still didn’t quite get it but by that point, near enough was good enough ;)

Paper pieced LEGO Yoda

Yoda himself. Faceless he is. Faceless he may stay. Yoda face is hard.

Paper pieced LEGO Padme

Previously unmentioned, this block is Padme Amidala. The cool fighter Padme, not the weird get-up Senator Padme (could you imagine piecing that?!). See what my Star Wars kid is doing to me?! I didn’t even know there was more than one version of Padme til my J came along with his obsession.

Paper pieced LEGO Han Solo

And Han Solo. I’m not sure I got his hair colour right. I wanted a different brown to Padme and Leia. Interesting fact I learnt from my friend Jane – the LEGO Han Solo minifigure has his own unique hair colour. Perhaps that’s where the pressure came from to make his hair right!

Padme and Han Solo patterns are in my Craftsy shop for free – I am gradually adding the patterns as they get tested. Expect some more to be added soon.

So there you have it. 16 blocks. Halfway there. I can do this. I still have 7 weeks to go before the big birthday!

  1. Well done! It's hard when you hit the middle - I go for mini goals to keep me interested (if I can - some times I just flake out :-)) I think one more light sabre in each colour would be a good start!
Han Solo. Mmmmmmm. He deserves his own hair colour. Yes he does.

  2. Whoop whoop! Just picture that little face lighting up at the sight of all these familiar friends ;)

Also - I laughed out loud when you wrote that Ahsoka is the toughest block. I went pretty slowly but now I'm just hoping it'll go faster as a chain piecing process, otherwise this might be the beginning of the end for my Warhol project!

  3. May the force stay with you (so you don't run out of steam!) Yoda is pretty wrinkly so I can see why he may remain faceless.

  4. Love them! All of your blocks Kristy! I can imagine the frustration with Ahsoka Tano....

  5. Will there be a Star Wars themw for the birthday too or will that be the straw that might break the camel's back?

You are doing a fantastic job on these blocks.

  10. Brilliant, they are. Patient, you must be. Impressed, I am. Bit tricky to get the punctuation right in Yoda-speak.

  15. you are doing so well! I have to admit, I have no idea who half of these characters are (I have heard of Yoda!), despite having seen 4/6 of the star wars films! Clearly I wasn't paying enough attention...

  20. You are amazing, I love all the Star Wars patterns. I showed Princess Leia to my daughters and guess what, they want a quilt with all the figures, they grew up with Star Wars so I guess that will tell how old they are and they still love the figures.
I love them too and will get to work on them soon. Thanks a lot for sharing.
