I’m madly trying to get this paper pieced wallhanging finished in time for Christmas. I’m loving it so far.
The pattern is by Eileen B Sullivan and I’m making it all in solids – 4 shades of yellow, 4 shades of green and a nice sunny-day kind of blue sky background.
So this one will be for my Mum for Christmas. I was so busy congratulating myself on how well I was doing and how little I had left, that I didn’t even notice until I went to join the pieces together that I did this:
Nope, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. That is in fact a half green/half yellow daffodil. Poo. Actually I probably said something a bit stronger than that but for the sake of this blog… Poo.
So I think I’ll be hanging out with my trusty seam ripper tonight unpicking all that and hoping to goodness I can salvage the paper pieces as I don’t have another copy of the pattern. Again I say poo.
But hey, at least I’ve made progress since last week! And I really don’t have too much left of the actual piecing to finish it off.
My other big WiP is of the bloggy kind. I mentioned the other day that I am planning a sewing themed paper pieced BoM (that’s a mouthful I know!) for next year. Well I have gotten a bit more organised and set up a page and a button for it (even managed the grab box code for it, fingers crossed I did it right – check it out in the sidebar).
Pop by, check it out and feel free to spread the word! I’m looking forward to some paper piecing with bloggy friends!

Lol! I've said stronger words too, Kristy! It's always worth it to rip and repair though. The flowers are coming along nicely!
ReplyDeleteHoly crap, that's stunning!!! I uh...also would have said some stronger words (although my friend has me saying "pooper pops" which just fits in so many ways sometimes) when coming across the green issue. Hopefully it won't take too much time to fix! It's so gorgeous. :O
ReplyDeleteI daresay that most of us sanitise our speech when it comes to describing what we said when we discovered a mistake!
ReplyDeleteBut the piecing looks absolutely lovely - your mum is very lucky!
Your daffodil's look amazing! I normally have stronger words than that as well and once it starts I'm best to give it up for the day :)
ReplyDeleteGot distracted with the BOM page and announcement, looks great! And so does this block... a work of art. Look forward to seeing it finished!
ReplyDeleteHaha. You make me laugh with that word "Poo".. Aw, it's worth the ripper..it looks lovely Kristy!!
ReplyDeleteHeee :) I've done the same kind of thing more than once. You've got a lot done on these, though!
ReplyDeleteAh,yes...paper piecing and "oh poo" go hand in hand in my house! Your Mom is sure to love it!
ReplyDeleteYour daffodils are looking beautiful!! Hope you can save the pattern and reuse it!!! I don' t know how I would get by without my trusty seam ripper!!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing paper piecing!!! I hope you post a finished picture of it once it's done and quilted/framed/hung - however it will be presented.
ReplyDeleteLovely. I really don't enjoy paper piecing but that is lovely. Sorry about the goof up.
ReplyDeleteIf you hadn't pointed out that what you did was an error, I would have said it looked just great half green and half yellow. (And in fact, it does -- or did, depending on whether you've ripped out the seams already.)
ReplyDeleteIt happens....lol. But this is going to be just gorgeous finished. Make sure we get to see it, please.
ReplyDeleteI love this! Daffodils are some of my favorites. :) I hate when I'm zipping along on a project and make a snafu like your green flower. I also say poo (among other stronger words)! ;)
ReplyDeleteI adore your paper piecing. The daffodils are amazing. They are my favorite flower.
ReplyDeleteI love it because of the yellow.
ReplyDeleteI have yet to learn how to paper piece....I know some love it and some hate it...I want to know how to do it!
Oops! Easy enough to do though! Is this from the same designer of your purple one? Love your little blog button for the BOM too!
ReplyDeleteOh no! How did you go unpicking it? Had you already removed the paper? I was thinking you could copy the back of that section before taking off the papers and then working from the copy. The solids are fantastic - love the effect they have. Looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.
ReplyDeleteYou had me laughing again girl! Three times poo. But it is looking fabulous.
