It's a new year which means a new paper pieced BoM! This year we're going to the zoo. My house is a zoo so this seemed appropriate.
Our theme for 2015 is Zoo Animals! Yay! Here’s a quick look at what will be included this year!
9 patterns with one pattern per month will take you through to September. That gives you the
last few months of the year to get the patterns finished and put
together into a fun quilt or wallhanging.
Each pattern makes a 10” block. The patterns range in skill level and I
will be sharing the easier ones first leading up to the hardest at the
end (I’m looking at you Mr Lion). Each month there will be one free
pattern made available. It becomes a paid pattern on the 1st of the next
month (Australian time because I’m Australian) and the next pattern
becomes available. Or if you can’t wait for all of the patterns to
become available, you can pick up the entire bundle in my new shop.
I will post each new pattern in my shop and blog about it on the 1st of the month so keep an eye out! There is also a linky party included where you can share your version of the block. Here's a quick reference to the link parties.
January block - Flamingo
February block - Penguin
March block - Polar bear
April block - Walrus
May block - Giraffe
June block - Blue Macaw
July block - Koala
August block - Monkey
September block - Lion
Hope you enjoy making these blocks! I can't wait to see them! Happy sewing quilty types!
These animals are sooo cute! I love that each animal has it's own little personality shining through!

adorable!
ReplyDeleteI have never done a BOM..having only just begun quilting this year... Also I have never done ANY paper piecing before...so you might have to bear with me...I will try to keep going!
ReplyDeleteDarling patterns thanks so much for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteMade mine! Thanks so much, can't wait to stitch them all up!
ReplyDeleteHi Kristy! Would it be OK for me to use the picture of the blocks from above that says A Quiet Play BOM on my blog sidebar to show I'm taking part (linking back to here)?
ReplyDeleteYour quilt is so cute. I've made the flamingo and penguin so far and am thinking of making the flamingo again for a pillow for a friend. Do you have a link so that I can post it on my blog?
ReplyDeleteHi Kristy
ReplyDeleteAre all the blocks in this years quilt, going to be on Craftsy? I've been waiting, and waiting for February, but just today discovered that it's on Craftsy, so if I know where to go, then I'll go there, instead of waiting.
Thanks for the time it takes to design these blocks and post them.
Carmen
All the blocks are in my Payhip shop. If you have a look through the main posts on my blog, you'll see I've posted about the block for each month. :)
DeleteHi Kristy
ReplyDeleteYour designs are adorable. thank you so very much for letting us receive free blocks. I am hoping for grandchildren soon and am making them to put aside. Lovely story telling wall hangings/quilts.
Regards
wait! what happened to may? did I miss it? I still have time?
ReplyDeleteI posted the May block on the 1st May. I just forgot to update this page. I don't tend to do much blogging these days, but if you follow my blog you will see when it's posted on the 1st of each month.
DeleteHi! I am going to ask what is probably a really dumb question! I printed out the pieces for the walrus block and part of the long top part was cut off. Is there a way to print it out from pdf without pieces getting chopped off? Thanks and I am really learning a lot and enjoying the blocks!! (I follow you on instagram and I have been tagging you each time I finish - my blocks are the psychedelic flower power blocks!! Ha Ha)
ReplyDeleteSometimes there are parts that won't fit on a single piece of paper and will need to be taped together before you start piecing. If it looks like it's a piece that should all be on one page though, check that your printer is set to "no scaling" or printing at 100% in case there's an error there. I hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteMy reply may show up twice. I ended up printing it on 8.5x14 paper which it fit on. There was a small part that was outside the margin of the 8.5x11. It was the correct with when I sewed it and cut it, though. Thanks for your help! :)
DeleteSo cute!!! Great patterns.
