It's likely not a surprise to anyone, but my geometric sewing machine pattern is my most popular of all my paper pieced patterns. Don't tell my other patterns, but it's definitely one of my favourites! I've made a number of versions in a number of sizes. In fact I've recently added a simplified version in varying sizes to <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank">my pattern shop</a>. So now there are options! Because we all like options obviously!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-C2Dqvz1DBRs/V5m9eCgC5cI/AAAAAAAAJlM/-BBGMr3enVk9gNz-F6c6H3Jd8UijCQTUACLcB/s1600/Geo%2BSewing%2BMachine.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-C2Dqvz1DBRs/V5m9eCgC5cI/AAAAAAAAJlM/-BBGMr3enVk9gNz-F6c6H3Jd8UijCQTUACLcB/s320/Geo%2BSewing%2BMachine.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
But maybe paper piecing isn't your most favourite - but you love the geometric sewing machine. Perhaps you'd like to show off your love of all things quilty by wearing it - oh yes you can get a geometric sewing machine tshirt through <a href="http://patchworkthreads.com/collections/v-necks/products/geometric-sewing-machine-v-neck" target="_blank">Patchwork Threads</a>. It's perfect for retreats or quilt shows - just saying ;)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://patchworkthreads.com/collections/v-necks/products/geometric-sewing-machine-v-neck" target="_blank"><img alt="http://patchworkthreads.com/collections/v-necks/products/geometric-sewing-machine-v-neck" border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-xJJdSAE56D0/V5m-QzqetpI/AAAAAAAAJlQ/WuJvsF0s-AgIMx8Z9wwkQSvjOU4YLUzFACEw/s320/Geometric%2BSewing%2BMachine%2Btshirt.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Or maybe you'd like one to grace your sewing room wall - without the effort of paper piecing. Maybe you need a clock? Well look at this - I've got you sorted! You can now get a <a href="http://www.society6.com/quietplay" target="_blank">geometric sewing machine wall clock</a>. Hooray! And it doesn't even make a noisy tick - so no distractions when you're sewing. Can't get better than that right?!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://society6.com/quietplay" target="_blank"><img alt="http://society6.com/quietplay" border="0" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0rEzzE7aPo0/V5m-RAM7zgI/AAAAAAAAJlU/OuWtlrBGPv4-uksLpUlq4fz7jazTmxNXQCEw/s1600/Geometric%2BSewing%2BMachine%2BClock%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.png" /></a></div>
<br />
And to finish up on some sewing news... I'll have a new pattern coming out soon that features the geo sewing machine. This time it'll be a pattern to make a full quilt. I'm a bit excited about it - it's currently with testers and I hope to release it in September. So watch this space!<br />

After a weekend hanging out with so many amazing quilty people at the Sydney Craft and Quilt Fair, my inspiration is like... through the roof. I want to make alllll the things, design allll the things, and talk sewing and quilting and creating ALLLL THE TIME! <br />
<br />
The Quilt Fair was the first big one I've ever been to. Which in itself was amazing (oh the quilts! We'll be sharing pics on IG at @makemodernmagazine), but the people. That is what took it from amazing to fan-freaking-tastic. I met so many incredible people! So so many.<br />
<br />
But I digress. I need to backtrack a little way and share a tiny bit of the lead up to the craft fair. Don't worry, it involves quilty pictures!<br />
<br />
Like this one:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x_v5pZvBLgI/V3HGnQJ4aZI/AAAAAAAAJgo/cr3AzjfTugUHHeFFwdDRvl_3RoLJqLk-ACLcB/s1600/Geometric%2BSewing%2BMachine%2BSuper%2BTote%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-x_v5pZvBLgI/V3HGnQJ4aZI/AAAAAAAAJgo/cr3AzjfTugUHHeFFwdDRvl_3RoLJqLk-ACLcB/s320/Geometric%2BSewing%2BMachine%2BSuper%2BTote%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Why yes, I did make it myself, thank you for asking. Why no, there will not be close up photos as I've discovered bag making is not my thing. However I felt I needed something to make myself something recognisable at the Craft Fair. Well besides this bit of awesome that I wore EVERYWHERE:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p4rWy3iOgbk/V3HHMWgsqEI/AAAAAAAAJhg/tPigCeCN7h4i6If24wm7YiML9vjIteeOgCLcB/s1600/Name%2BTag%2Bby%2BGnome%2BAngel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="316" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-p4rWy3iOgbk/V3HHMWgsqEI/AAAAAAAAJhg/tPigCeCN7h4i6If24wm7YiML9vjIteeOgCLcB/s320/Name%2BTag%2Bby%2BGnome%2BAngel.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
No not the pincushion. Too heavy to wear but it graces my sewing desk quite nicely, thank you very much. That's my name tag made for me by none other than the amazing <a href="http://gnomeangel.com/" target="_blank">Angie of GnomeAngel</a> (who I got to meet! More about that later!). Isn't it seriously perfect?! I shall have to remember to do a blog post about the name tag swap because Awesome.<br />
<br />
But back to the bag. It's a Super Tote designed by <a href="http://noodle-head.com/" target="_blank">Noodlehead</a>. Now I'd seen many of these around and thought they were cool, then I saw Erin's (@quilybystarlight) version and about died. She was a clever clogs and added my geometric sewing machine to the front. With her permission and encouragement, I blatantly copied her idea - but with a rainbow version.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank"><img alt="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EOd3mMJoOvA/V3HGl82VQjI/AAAAAAAAJho/-KgMU9vMQwonPWOkMjoeUcXcBswcvX-fQCKgB/s320/Geometric%2BSewing%2BMachine%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
This pattern is in <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank">my Craftsy shop</a> for the curious - and I made it with 25 Sketch prints and 25 solids. I like rainbows, what can I say? I even added a rainbow gusset (oooh fancy).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j4J_IkfV3Do/V3HGvHO2o_I/AAAAAAAAJho/R4hg9ZwSkgIwCHTFfzUDVz-zqel-WtfywCKgB/s1600/Rainbow%2Bgusset%2BQuiet%2BPlay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j4J_IkfV3Do/V3HGvHO2o_I/AAAAAAAAJho/R4hg9ZwSkgIwCHTFfzUDVz-zqel-WtfywCKgB/s320/Rainbow%2Bgusset%2BQuiet%2BPlay.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And yes, I did wear it the whole weekend. It was the perfect size for all the stuff I needed to carry, including all the loot I bought. Oh and look at me showing it off at dinner with <a href="http://gnomeangel.com/" target="_blank">GnomeAngel</a> (name dropping!). Check out her unicorn horn. Wonder where that could have come from...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q12CDDD0xE4/V3HGpoP-udI/AAAAAAAAJho/w7wPjF2CWvAU0Bs5ABnRefBHGfsraDwUQCKgB/s1600/Kristy%2Band%2BAngie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-q12CDDD0xE4/V3HGpoP-udI/AAAAAAAAJho/w7wPjF2CWvAU0Bs5ABnRefBHGfsraDwUQCKgB/s320/Kristy%2Band%2BAngie.jpg" width="296" /></a></div>
<br />
So between the bag and the name tag, I had the perfect quilty icebreaker to talk to quilty types. Not that I necessarily needed it, I was so excited I think I talked to anyone and everyone who vaguely glanced my way. My social skills may need work.<br />
<br />
I was lucky to have two beautiful IG friends, now turned besties (obviously) to hang out with for the weekend. I could not have asked for better company - <a href="http://livelovesew.com.au/" target="_blank">Keera from Live Love Sew</a>, and one of my partners in crime from Make Modern Magazine, Lara (@luellabella).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p7zuf30WyqQ/V3HGqXxEv4I/AAAAAAAAJho/uP1_YeXmRfIjoCxh4bSaht2_G2e1Ye1OQCKgB/s1600/Kristy%252C%2BKeera%2Band%2BLara.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-p7zuf30WyqQ/V3HGqXxEv4I/AAAAAAAAJho/uP1_YeXmRfIjoCxh4bSaht2_G2e1Ye1OQCKgB/s320/Kristy%252C%2BKeera%2Band%2BLara.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Fortunately we had organised a dinner for the first night (with the help of my partners in crime <a href="http://livelovesew.com.au/" target="_blank">Keera</a> @livelovesew and <a href="http://mollisparkles.com/" target="_blank">Molli Sparkles</a> (@molli_sparkles). Best thing ever. Around 30 quilty types all hanging out, drinking and talking and yelling and laughing - followed up by an indulgent chocolate dessert at the Lindt Cafe at Darling Harbour.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oSDLfcJfcps/V3HGmmLGOaI/AAAAAAAAJho/dd15Bqa6XJ4SDM7hctLyfIklM7JwgjmqACKgB/s1600/IG%2BDinner.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oSDLfcJfcps/V3HGmmLGOaI/AAAAAAAAJho/dd15Bqa6XJ4SDM7hctLyfIklM7JwgjmqACKgB/s320/IG%2BDinner.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
That pic only shows half the awesomeness that attended our dinner. I stupidly didn't manage to get a photo of EVERYONE who came - but trust me - all brilliant. I don't have enough superlatives to describe how fantastic it was to meet everyone and hang out and chat and talk and chat and talk.<br />
<br />
In fact I don't have enough words to describe the entire weekend. If you have a chance to do something like this, I so encourage you to go for it! It's like you've found your tribe. You have all these people who totally get you, get what you love, and share your passion. There's something a little magical in that. So much time spent talking, bouncing ideas off each other, sharing knowledge and discussing all things quilty. You really can't get much better than that. <br />
<br />
And on that note, I'm off to work on my to-do list which has grown five fold with all the inspiration and creativity I encountered over the weekend! Hope your day is the same!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Hello! My name's Kristy Lea of <a href="http://quietplay.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Quiet Play</a>. I'm a bit of a foundation piecing fanatic, so when asked to join the RJR What Shade Are You blog hop, well there was only one thing to be done. Design a foundation pieced pattern, perfect for use with solids.<br />
<br />
I knew I wanted to do something with rainbow solids (rainbow is my favourite colour, let's be honest!) and the timing happened to coincide with the early arrival of my darling new little nephew. Both his parents are helicopter pilots, so it seemed only natural to design rainbow helicopters. Ok well not actual rainbow helicopters, but little helis in rainbow order. With fluffy white clouds. Because who doesn't love clouds?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-t_7LbjHjJtQ/V2eQ7xz94NI/AAAAAAAAJfQ/eB-SCz_6SW8d6qEPGB-e3x6IRW4xDnJSgCLcB/s1600/IMG_2621.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-t_7LbjHjJtQ/V2eQ7xz94NI/AAAAAAAAJfQ/eB-SCz_6SW8d6qEPGB-e3x6IRW4xDnJSgCLcB/s640/IMG_2621.JPG" width="480" /></a></div>
<br />
Picking fabrics for a project is probably one of my most favourite parts of quilting. And this was no different. I went for bright, bold colours to make for a very happy rainbow hover of helicopters.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6Oksdke-RGU/V2eSjmDH62I/AAAAAAAAJfg/dEgg5o5QJxUYbt8y5-gXS16tHR-eLPMrACLcB/s1600/RJR%2BCotton%2BSupreme%2BSolids.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6Oksdke-RGU/V2eSjmDH62I/AAAAAAAAJfg/dEgg5o5QJxUYbt8y5-gXS16tHR-eLPMrACLcB/s320/RJR%2BCotton%2BSupreme%2BSolids.jpg" width="318" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QPcVuUCci9s/V2ePTXdXKsI/AAAAAAAAJeA/AguQpKUIcfgeBRRssZXLKTOs0af_eI3gwCLcB/s1600/Closeup%2BHelicopter%2BQuilt%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
Ahhh bestill my rainbow loving heart. That's perfection right there. For the curious, the colours are (in rainbow order):<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Chili Pepper <br />
Carrot <br />
Citron <br />
Grass is Always Greener </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Royal Blue </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Turks and Caicos <br />
Hydrangea <br />
Jacaranda </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Bora Bora and Poolside for the background colours. Ah pretty pretty.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

The cotton supreme solids are beautiful for foundation paper piecing. The seams crease perfectly and you get such a crisp look with paper piecing. It was hard to stop at just 6 little choppers!</div>

Here's a close up of the helicopters. After a bit of deliberating, I decided to personalise it by paper piecing my nephew's name as the centre piece of the quilt. This was just one of those quilts where the design and the piecing all just came together beautifully. Finished it off with wavy quilting to give the little helicopters some movement. </div>

It was a really tough life to have to go to New Zealand and visit the amazing Fox Glacier on the South Island just to get some photos of my quilt. The lengths we quilters go to! Ok kidding, I went on a family visit, and during that time was fortunate enough to have a helicopter flight up and over the Glacier - just spectacular. I didn't think to take the quilt with me ON the helicopter to photograph at the glacier, so these snaps beside the chopper will have to do. ;)</div>

Once you get the hang of the basics though, there's nothing stopping you from tackling the most complex of patterns. But along the way, there are a few little tips that might help you. Or at least - make paper piecing seem a teeny bit tedious.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-156hQCLdkJE/V2eMQAs0mVI/AAAAAAAAJd0/yRtEn0BkNd4h--BAdRQYZce3BiS5ekKEwCLcB/s1600/Paper%2BPiecing%2BTips.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-156hQCLdkJE/V2eMQAs0mVI/AAAAAAAAJd0/yRtEn0BkNd4h--BAdRQYZce3BiS5ekKEwCLcB/s320/Paper%2BPiecing%2BTips.jpg" width="307" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
So I snapped these pics during my recent paper piecing shenanigans (notice all that pretty rainbow stuff happening in the background? Yeah I'm totally in my happy place).<br />
<br />
Let's start with the very first thing you should do when paper piecing. It's all about stitch length, because size really does matter.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-umtaclMqDl0/V2eJ24TqE2I/AAAAAAAAJdI/liUUDUZjidIA7omsv4fXpFosWAwSFoxfQCKgB/s1600/IMG_2863.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-umtaclMqDl0/V2eJ24TqE2I/AAAAAAAAJdI/liUUDUZjidIA7omsv4fXpFosWAwSFoxfQCKgB/s320/IMG_2863.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's a visual shot to show you of where my stitch length sits when I'm paper piecing. That's right - allll the way down to around 1.5. This makes teeny tiny stitches. Which in turns makes the paper removal an absolute breeze. However if you stuff up your seam, and need to unpick it, well let's just say there might be a few swear words involved. So if you have a tricky seam where you have to line things up just perfectly, consider using a much larger stitch (4 or so) and stitch the seam. Open it up to see if you're happy with how it looks. If so, shrink that sucker back down to 1.5 and do it again. If it didn't work, make friends with your seam ripper and pull it out and do it all over again. Even after many years of paper piecing, I still use a basting stitch if I'm not certain. It's much better than unpicking teeny stitches!<br />
<br />
Next tip in this process... rough cut your fabrics to size and put them in order. Pictures first, explanation second.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rJzitnJODpc/V2eJ9nDx_vI/AAAAAAAAJdw/0LnIvQxzQWgl_9c0Rmagr490b1-h3qMYgCKgB/s1600/Rough%2Bcut%2Bfabric%2Bto%2Bsize.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="291" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rJzitnJODpc/V2eJ9nDx_vI/AAAAAAAAJdw/0LnIvQxzQWgl_9c0Rmagr490b1-h3qMYgCKgB/s320/Rough%2Bcut%2Bfabric%2Bto%2Bsize.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
This shows two pictures of sections I was piecing. As I work through sections, I rough cut my fabric to size. That is I grab the first colour, lay it over the paper template and make sure I cut a big enough chunk to still have 1/4" seam allowance all the way around. I tend to err on the generous side. It makes life easier, trust me.<br />
<br />
However if you're a bit OCD about your stash, you may not love having rough chunks cut out of your pretty fabrics. So another option - you can use your ruler and measure how wide the section to piece is (don't forget the seam allowance) and cut a strip with your ruler. I do this if I'm paper piecing the same pattern mulitple times and know I'll need the same size pieces of background fabric for multiple sections.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jma8ZBxLLxs/V2eJ9Vc9HnI/AAAAAAAAJdw/VSfAAz50fiMPIajSeGB2luE0reEU4SeogCKgB/s1600/IMG_2862.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jma8ZBxLLxs/V2eJ9Vc9HnI/AAAAAAAAJdw/VSfAAz50fiMPIajSeGB2luE0reEU4SeogCKgB/s320/IMG_2862.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
It doesn't stop there. Cut your fabrics in order and lay them in a pile IN ORDER. Nothing worse than grabbing the wrong scrap and piecing it in the wrong place. Not that I'd ever do that. Ahem. This makes it quicker to piece each section when you can just grab a fabric scrap, sew it up, move along to the next one. Try it. You'll like it.<br />
<br />
Last tip for today - and this one involves a notion that you're going to want in your paper piecing toolbox - a Clover Finger Presser. Ok it doesn't have to be Clover branded, but that's my preferred one. You can also use a seam roller. Just something that will save you trips to the iron for every.single.seam.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o5TPlQ4LzRk/V2eJwL2LIAI/AAAAAAAAJds/Q0Ml9kdMKn4RQ5eCA_yh8QVQnf-DifpxACKgB/s1600/Finger%2BPresser2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-o5TPlQ4LzRk/V2eJwL2LIAI/AAAAAAAAJds/Q0Ml9kdMKn4RQ5eCA_yh8QVQnf-DifpxACKgB/s320/Finger%2BPresser2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
See how that seam is sitting up after being sewn? Naughty seam. Normally this would involve a trip to the iron to smooth it flat before moving on, right? Not necessarily. Just watch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xz7u2BEztNc/V2eJvgC-c_I/AAAAAAAAJds/yrgih2d_B-UhbjOg1fRzvjlB-7oxFApuwCKgB/s1600/Finger%2BPresser3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xz7u2BEztNc/V2eJvgC-c_I/AAAAAAAAJds/yrgih2d_B-UhbjOg1fRzvjlB-7oxFApuwCKgB/s320/Finger%2BPresser3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Side note: it's very hard to take a photo of yourself demonstrating the use of a magic sewing tool, so forgive the weird angle. But here you see the Finger Presser in action. It's like magic, really.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L1pIzw2moeo/V2eJxcDWBjI/AAAAAAAAJds/ntxp14-mYsMmL6hyEEfJ7fThkQdYP2YSwCKgB/s1600/Finger%2BPresser4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L1pIzw2moeo/V2eJxcDWBjI/AAAAAAAAJds/ntxp14-mYsMmL6hyEEfJ7fThkQdYP2YSwCKgB/s320/Finger%2BPresser4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Now look at how lovely and smooth that seam is! Good seam! And now you can move onto the next piece (from your nicely orderly pile of rough cut fabrics). I like to piece alllll the sections at once, then iron them all at once, then trim them to size all at once. It's a bit of a factory production line, but that's how I prefer to do it. Then I iron again when joining the sections. You can use the finger presser on these joining seams too, but I find an iron does a better job.<br />
<br />
While we're talking about irons - again personal preference. I use a dry iron. I found using steam, sometimes the water would leak and could make the ink on the paper run (possibly staining your fabric!). Plus I never have to worry about refilling the water. Dry iron all the way.<br />
<br />
So there you have it. A few little tips and hints that may make paper piecing a little more fun. But please, don't blame me if this further feeds your addiction. I only accept thanks, chocolate and vodka. ;) <br />

I'd admire them, and look at them and dream of pretty things I could make with them - if only I could machine sew them. I have joint problems so I didn't think hand sewing was going to be something I could do. But it turns out, I can make a few hexies here and there with no problems - and the pile seems to grow rapidly.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MA7ULkLSvQw/V0wXXn78RPI/AAAAAAAAJcY/nWl4I_ZsuKMuhwYuCcdlGRh_QQNcq6AjwCKgB/s1600/Rainbow%2Bhexies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-MA7ULkLSvQw/V0wXXn78RPI/AAAAAAAAJcY/nWl4I_ZsuKMuhwYuCcdlGRh_QQNcq6AjwCKgB/s320/Rainbow%2Bhexies.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
Then I discovered <a href="http://modernhandcraft.com/" target="_blank">Nicole of Modern Handcraft's</a> Modern Hexie tutorial. A method where you quilt the hexies into place rather than hand sew them together. The hand sewing is where I didn't think I could manage so machine sewing? Brilliant!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OkY6-r50Ja4/V0wXF99rPII/AAAAAAAAJcQ/ay2dL_fH4GE_CdLoCbRVZ1oiGCInx8BwgCKgB/s1600/Fussy%2Bcut%2BRainbow%2Bhexies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="308" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OkY6-r50Ja4/V0wXF99rPII/AAAAAAAAJcQ/ay2dL_fH4GE_CdLoCbRVZ1oiGCInx8BwgCKgB/s320/Fussy%2Bcut%2BRainbow%2Bhexies.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
This cushion was the result of my first attempt. I was using a borrowed machine (as mine is in the repair shop) and it was a little fussy. But I love the end result. I straight line quilted in on direction to keep the hexies in place, rather than in different directions like Nicole's tutorial. I love how it looks.<br />
<br />
Also the opportunity for fussy cutting? Perfect! And using up scraps? Even better! I gave the first cushion as a birthday gift to one of my daughter's little friends. My friend Jane was rather taken with it, so I decided to surprise her with one of her own. A little less fussy cutting and a little more of my favourite fabrics! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_LMr9S1jxr0/V0wXNgTb1lI/AAAAAAAAJcY/l6EmcXJHmsU2QuruK0_ERU-yofJGq8-WACKgB/s1600/Rainbow%2BCushion.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_LMr9S1jxr0/V0wXNgTb1lI/AAAAAAAAJcY/l6EmcXJHmsU2QuruK0_ERU-yofJGq8-WACKgB/s320/Rainbow%2BCushion.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I backed it with even more rainbow fabric on the back. Because rainbow goodness is what everyone needs in their life!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MStRTzgLfhU/V0wYDXbnz1I/AAAAAAAAJcY/VyGoKpMpBiwgCWPLkZinKKP2nwyj8dszwCKgB/s1600/Back%2Bof%2BRainbow%2BCushion.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="305" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MStRTzgLfhU/V0wYDXbnz1I/AAAAAAAAJcY/VyGoKpMpBiwgCWPLkZinKKP2nwyj8dszwCKgB/s320/Back%2Bof%2BRainbow%2BCushion.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Not going to lie. This won't be the last you see of hexies happening in my projects. I'm already working on another one with my Mendocino fabric - this time a project for me! I absolutely love this method of hexies - and am even more thrilled to have a project to work on making hexies while I watch telly! Oh and never fear - I haven't neglected my paper piecing. There are new patterns in the works! Right after I get back from my little jaunt over to New Zealand for a holiday... :)<br />

Kristy @ Quiet Playhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12676231528874212575noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4800978518990634193.post-46533067111788016202016-05-13T18:51:00.003+10:002016-05-13T18:51:37.168+10:00Homeward Bound Recently I was fortunate enough to do a little bit of pattern testing. Usually it's the other way around and I'm sending out patterns for testing. It was a bit fun to be on the other end of the pattern, so to speak! My gorgeous friend <a href="http://livelovesew.com.au/" target="_blank">Keera from Live Love Sew</a> has just released 4 brand new patterns - and I got a sneak peek to test Homeward Bound.<br />
<br />
Here's my version of the block:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JNT7ReIQxpA/VzWTdSNomeI/AAAAAAAAJbg/m_KMGjX33qsMgo0wVk1hHB58c3V5Q7UwwCKgB/s1600/Homeward%2BBound%2Bblock.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JNT7ReIQxpA/VzWTdSNomeI/AAAAAAAAJbg/m_KMGjX33qsMgo0wVk1hHB58c3V5Q7UwwCKgB/s320/Homeward%2BBound%2Bblock.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I couldn't resist making a rainbow version with Alison Glass prints - and paired with the grey. Oh so pretty right?!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zDRG6psS8CI/VzWTcR24BTI/AAAAAAAAJbY/IR4SI0j_4sgQ9nbw0WPFPvRReP5dIMXSQCKgB/s1600/Homeward%2BBound%2BBlock%2BCentre.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zDRG6psS8CI/VzWTcR24BTI/AAAAAAAAJbY/IR4SI0j_4sgQ9nbw0WPFPvRReP5dIMXSQCKgB/s320/Homeward%2BBound%2BBlock%2BCentre.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The centre I made with Ex Libris panels - which I just adore! It wasn't easy to cut them up - but I think it was worth it for how pretty it looks.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sWEoL78rmwk/VzWTcoXE7KI/AAAAAAAAJbc/AeYbHy6udL4ykYh3GjjaVfH54dg905F1gCKgB/s1600/Close%2Bup%2Bof%2BHomeward%2BBound%2BHexies.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="314" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sWEoL78rmwk/VzWTcoXE7KI/AAAAAAAAJbc/AeYbHy6udL4ykYh3GjjaVfH54dg905F1gCKgB/s320/Close%2Bup%2Bof%2BHomeward%2BBound%2BHexies.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Then. I had to add my newest obsession. Little hexies I've been making out of Sunprints (also by Alison Glass). I had quite a collection and it just seemed right to add them to this block.<br />
<br />
The quilt block from Homeward Bound is quite large - 24" square. So I decided to add just a little bit, with the hexies and call it a finished lap quilt around 35" square. Perfect for my Miss 5 - nearly 6. She has quite a collection of quilts these days!<br />

<br />
Here's how it finished up! I so love how the dark grey for the background makes the rainbow just sing! It's a nice little comfy quilt and the fun part is my gal helped me sort out the hexies and was involved in the layout. Always a bit special when you can work on something together!<br /><br />Keera has just released this one as one of four new patterns last week - so now's your chance to nab a copy of Homeward Bound (in either PDF or paper version) and give it a try yourself! You can find Keera's blog and pattern shop <a href="http://livelovesew.com.au/" target="_blank">here</a> and on IG as @livelovesew. <br />
<br />
Also anyone going to the Sydney Craft Fair at the end of June - let me know! Keera and I are meeting up, and also planning an IG meetup dinner one of the nights. We'd love to meet anyone else going along! Drop me an email if you're interested!<br />
<br />
Happy sewing, quilty friends!Kristy @ Quiet Playhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12676231528874212575noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4800978518990634193.post-39689313960488575502016-05-01T10:45:00.002+10:002016-05-01T10:45:29.030+10:00New patterns released!Hello lovely quilters! <br /><br />I've been busily working behind the scenes of late to bring some new patterns to the Quiet Play shop. I've released three new patterns this week that I'm very excited about! It's been a busy week!<br /><br />The most recent (and perhaps most anticipated?!) one is the large unicorn block! That's right - now you can make your very own 25" unicorn block. Because everyone needs a giant unicorn right?!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yu-PcooVHG0/VyVPPuIsx1I/AAAAAAAAJas/Yu9VlGoF-08xXw8ZdfEiYagDtOqei621gCLcB/s1600/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BBlock%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yu-PcooVHG0/VyVPPuIsx1I/AAAAAAAAJas/Yu9VlGoF-08xXw8ZdfEiYagDtOqei621gCLcB/s400/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BBlock%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="398" /></a></div>
<br />
So I've done a little bit of tweaking with this pattern. Because it's so large, some of the pattern templates print over two pages. Because of this, and the difference in printing on A4 vs Letter size paper, I've done two versions of this pattern. In my <a href="http://www.payhip.com/quietplay" target="_blank">Payhip shop</a>, the files download at once (with A4 or Letter noted in the file name). In my <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank">Craftsy shop</a>, they are listed separately so you need to look for the one that is the right paper preference for what you want. By having two versions of the pattern, I'm hoping this makes it easier when you print out the templates and tape them together!<br />
<br />
And now for the other patterns! The geometric lowercase is ready now to join the uppercase version in my shops! I had a whole bunch of fabulous testers who helped out and made sure this one is all set! Hope you love it as much as I do!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FWOlfrN7DGg/VyVPX2Z16KI/AAAAAAAAJa0/FT0yuQzMWVEqUiaE1nQJqvqk4n9UyV0YQCKgB/s1600/Alphabet.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="382" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FWOlfrN7DGg/VyVPX2Z16KI/AAAAAAAAJa0/FT0yuQzMWVEqUiaE1nQJqvqk4n9UyV0YQCKgB/s400/Alphabet.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And lastly (for now! Because you know I'm always dreaming up new patterns!), I have a new little helicopter pattern! My sister and brother in law are both helicopter pilots, so when they announced they were adding to the family, naturally I had to come up with a helicopter quilt design! So a new little helicopter in honour of my darling new little nephew!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-B_VbYpq0dQs/VyVPU1F42qI/AAAAAAAAJaw/bzmAEYLf_hkw4addsexN7ubenEkO6UzYACKgB/s1600/helicopter.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-B_VbYpq0dQs/VyVPU1F42qI/AAAAAAAAJaw/bzmAEYLf_hkw4addsexN7ubenEkO6UzYACKgB/s400/helicopter.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
You can find these patterns all listed in my <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank">Craftsy shop</a> or in my <a href="http://www.payhip.com/quietplay" target="_blank">Payhip shop</a>. A little heads up - if you nip over to my Payhip shop, I have a little sale going on where you can save 25% on all of my patterns. Just use code "QP25". Please note that the code ONLY works in the <a href="http://www.payhip.com/quietplay" target="_blank">Payhip shop</a> as Craftsy doesn't allow for coupon codes unfortunately. But hurry - code expires 3rd May!<br />
<br />
If you make any of my patterns, I'd love to see! Feel free to share them on Instagram and tag me with @quietplay and #quietplaypatterns. Happy sewing!!<br />

<br />Kristy @ Quiet Playhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12676231528874212575noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4800978518990634193.post-51506903764247262622016-04-21T09:32:00.001+10:002016-04-21T09:34:18.730+10:00Rainbow Unicorn QuiltMy Miss 5 is soon turning 6 and naturally a birthday calls for a new quilt. Particularly as she's had the same quilt on her bed for *gasp* 3 years. It wasn't hard to decide what should feature on her quilt as she's a little bit unicorn obsessed. Preferably rainbow unicorn. So what's a rainbow-loving quilty mother to do but design a new unicorn pattern and use all her favourite rainbow prints to bring it to life!<br />
<br />
(Please note, there are like a gazillion photos coming, but consider yourself lucky that I pared that back from a bazillion to a mere gazillion). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uok4LLNserI/VxgLUUtNXLI/AAAAAAAAJZY/PFrCWlaZrQAjrof1wj4x3FU34oqlJZVHACLcB/s1600/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uok4LLNserI/VxgLUUtNXLI/AAAAAAAAJZY/PFrCWlaZrQAjrof1wj4x3FU34oqlJZVHACLcB/s640/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Ah this does make my quilty heart sing. It's the biggest quilt I've made in some time and wasn't exactly fun to quilt, but so worth it. My Little Miss was involved in every step of making this quilt - from choosing fabrics, and helping decide on the layout. I love that she is so interested in what I make and do - and I'm hoping this means she'll love her quilt FOREVER. She better.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3Q_xS3dRS6A/VxgM73jH4cI/AAAAAAAAJZc/DceQ12Ekz2QMgBiawLkiMR2ChmtGiahMwCLcB/s1600/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BBlock%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3Q_xS3dRS6A/VxgM73jH4cI/AAAAAAAAJZc/DceQ12Ekz2QMgBiawLkiMR2ChmtGiahMwCLcB/s320/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BBlock%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="319" /></a></div>
<br />
I used a mix of SunPrints from 2015 and 2016 for the unicorn's mane and tail - in colour order, naturally. I'll admit, I was pretty happy with how it was going at this point, but I felt it needed something else. So I had a bit of a play with my EQ7 sketch before I committed to anything more on the quilt block.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nL2XGXKrMyQ/VxgM8JCFFlI/AAAAAAAAJZg/s4EJuBjN2agZ4Yb8qTmSMB7TPc-9zBgYwCLcB/s1600/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BEQ7%2BSketch%2BKristy%2BLea%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nL2XGXKrMyQ/VxgM8JCFFlI/AAAAAAAAJZg/s4EJuBjN2agZ4Yb8qTmSMB7TPc-9zBgYwCLcB/s320/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BEQ7%2BSketch%2BKristy%2BLea%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Aha! It needed a wreath! Obviously! As you can see my original plan for the unicorn was one with much pink and purple - but my Little Miss had other ideas - and I think she was so right in choosing a rainbow theme!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j9vDcMcaHFk/VxgLP5eN2FI/AAAAAAAAJZE/4obKoWZsSkU66byQkCkiiAnXdWBu5nVHgCKgB/s1600/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BDetail%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-j9vDcMcaHFk/VxgLP5eN2FI/AAAAAAAAJZE/4obKoWZsSkU66byQkCkiiAnXdWBu5nVHgCKgB/s320/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BDetail%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_l41PD8NbTs/VxgLQwCNNmI/AAAAAAAAJZM/6mvF5B2gKvw8l-SLGlfAvkxR99f0gANZQCKgB/s1600/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BEmbroidery%2BDetail%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="301" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_l41PD8NbTs/VxgLQwCNNmI/AAAAAAAAJZM/6mvF5B2gKvw8l-SLGlfAvkxR99f0gANZQCKgB/s320/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BEmbroidery%2BDetail%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So after deciding the unicorn needed a wreath - which would be too hard to piece, and I don't like applique - I cracked out the old embroidery skills. I'll be the first to admit it's not perfect, but my daughter loves it. There are 6 flowers in each colour - because she's turning 6. Of course.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tCt7L_JFQNM/VxgM8ZJMGQI/AAAAAAAAJZk/W4KFXIv_6z4p9YBoZKP5fWvYPGmpoRESACLcB/s1600/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BClose%2BUp.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tCt7L_JFQNM/VxgM8ZJMGQI/AAAAAAAAJZk/W4KFXIv_6z4p9YBoZKP5fWvYPGmpoRESACLcB/s320/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BClose%2BUp.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The next part of the plan was to add in more rainbow! My favourite Blueberry Park by Karen Lewis to the rescue! I just adore the bright happy colours of Blueberry Park and they play so nicely with SunPrints!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ne211_rAy50/VxgLPzpOweI/AAAAAAAAJZI/5WcmrpU0leUWbKBq2UKK4THUSKuZGPsjwCKgB/s1600/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BBlueberry%2BPark%2BStripes%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Ne211_rAy50/VxgLPzpOweI/AAAAAAAAJZI/5WcmrpU0leUWbKBq2UKK4THUSKuZGPsjwCKgB/s320/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BBlueberry%2BPark%2BStripes%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So with some lovely simple patchwork that shows off the prints beautifully, I added Blueberry Park Rainbow stripes to the top and bottom of the quilt. And while we're on this photo, let's briefly discuss the quilting. I'm no good at free motion quilting. For me, I like to show off the piecing and design more than the quilting as that's where my heart lies. So it was my standard straight line quilting (1" lines apart) to the rescue. I'm rather happy with it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Xse3PAMba2g/VxgLPEbmcdI/AAAAAAAAJZA/BS3N568-zWcvTqitRjh1iuT_XvkTsAQeACKgB/s1600/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BBacking%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Xse3PAMba2g/VxgLPEbmcdI/AAAAAAAAJZA/BS3N568-zWcvTqitRjh1iuT_XvkTsAQeACKgB/s320/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BBacking%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
The backing is pure rainbow unicorn vomit. My daughter chose it at the shops and could not be talked into a more subtle rainbow stripe, or something with a white background. I tried, really I did. But it's her quilt, and it's the back.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1UwU-1w12AY/VxgPDXInaqI/AAAAAAAAJZw/a-Bkyn4lxeEIIE-aVivm7sfrNAXg5AzrQCLcB/s1600/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BBack%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-1UwU-1w12AY/VxgPDXInaqI/AAAAAAAAJZw/a-Bkyn4lxeEIIE-aVivm7sfrNAXg5AzrQCLcB/s320/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BBack%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So rainbow unicorn vomit it is. I actually kinda love it now. As you can see it wasn't quite big enough so I added some pink solid in - which formed a giant L. Appropriate as that's the first letter in my girl's name. Let's call it deliberate piecing. Uhuh.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9sGl02RkV88/VxgPXPsmW8I/AAAAAAAAJZ4/UPv_oXjPsRgkZNnFQ-Yu5iOSYwfQlk0aACLcB/s1600/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BPhotography.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9sGl02RkV88/VxgPXPsmW8I/AAAAAAAAJZ4/UPv_oXjPsRgkZNnFQ-Yu5iOSYwfQlk0aACLcB/s320/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2BPhotography.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We went off for a wander into the great Aussie bush to find a spot for photos. We braved itchy grass, kangaroo poo and potential snakes and ticks - but Miss 5 was very brave and keen for the adventure. She's responsible for the full length photos of the quilt - doesn't do a bad job does she!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--Bvz7FfvCvY/VxgPWJ7fE4I/AAAAAAAAJZ0/Z6EZ91_I9CMhiyFAlzhnNjheGFCyVIcEQCLcB/s1600/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2Bin%2Bthe%2Bwild%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/--Bvz7FfvCvY/VxgPWJ7fE4I/AAAAAAAAJZ0/Z6EZ91_I9CMhiyFAlzhnNjheGFCyVIcEQCLcB/s320/Rainbow%2BUnicorn%2BQuilt%2Bin%2Bthe%2Bwild%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
A last few details! The block is a 25" square. I've decided to keep it at that size when I release the pattern in both my <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank">Craftsy shop</a> and <a href="http://www.payhip.com/quietplay" target="_blank">Payhip shop</a> (which will be very soon). It's fairly detailed around the mane, so a bigger block makes it a little easier to piece. Final quilt size is 52" x 90".<br />
<br />
So there you have it! A rainbow unicorn quilt for a rainbow loving,
unicorn obsessed nearly 6 year old. I'm a bit in love and so is she.
Now to wait for the next month until her birthday and we can actually
put it on her bed!<br />
<br />

I don't quite know what it is - the shape, the look, but it's all just so pretty and appealing and I want to make like a million of them. So I did close to it. I made 28 feathers for one quilt. Because. Feathers.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-S5W-FlO2Y3I/VxBjX3-MWUI/AAAAAAAAJYE/9uR12h2LqvwNxKrzteXR-PWRLGcv0N_sQCLcB/s1600/Blueberry%2BFeathers%2BQuilt%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-S5W-FlO2Y3I/VxBjX3-MWUI/AAAAAAAAJYE/9uR12h2LqvwNxKrzteXR-PWRLGcv0N_sQCLcB/s320/Blueberry%2BFeathers%2BQuilt%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.png" width="318" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
All of the prints in this quilt are from Blueberry Park by Karen Lewis. There are 75 different colours and prints in the range and they are all absolutely gorgeous and stunning and every other superlative you can think of. I used 52 of those gorgeous prints in this quilt.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qxT8XZ5RVNM/VxBjYzBi8KI/AAAAAAAAJYQ/6Uc5UUEc4SUZJZrvmKV_-ocU79fxEHOIgCKgB/s1600/Blueberry%2BFeathers%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qxT8XZ5RVNM/VxBjYzBi8KI/AAAAAAAAJYQ/6Uc5UUEc4SUZJZrvmKV_-ocU79fxEHOIgCKgB/s320/Blueberry%2BFeathers%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I don't think it'd be any great leap for me to say that this line is one of my most favourite fabric lines ever. I use it in most all of my projects of late - I may be starting to run short...<br />
<br />
<br />
Nor is it going out on a limb to say this may be one of my most favourite quilts I have made to date. All those pretty paper pieced feathers. All those pretty colours. All those gorgeous prints. What's not to love seriously?<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I paired it with a geometric print for the backing - which just seemed to match so perfectly with the jewel tone feathers. Ah this makes my quilty heart sing.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-spwpm1T1_SM/VxBjYTFs9vI/AAAAAAAAJYg/S0taesMqT00EuJSvAj6U7p6QLNW0bqD3wCKgB/s1600/Blueberry%2BFeathers%2BQuilting%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-spwpm1T1_SM/VxBjYTFs9vI/AAAAAAAAJYg/S0taesMqT00EuJSvAj6U7p6QLNW0bqD3wCKgB/s320/Blueberry%2BFeathers%2BQuilting%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I stuck with my tried and true straight line quilting. I quilted it with white thread with the lines 1/2" apart. It just seemed the perfect way to finish off this quilt.<br />
<br />
You can find the paper pieced pattern for the feather on <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank">Craftsy</a> or
<a href="http://www.payhip.com/quietplay" target="_blank">Payhip</a>. There are two versions - a more complex one, and a simplified
one. I used the simplifed version and then cut down the number of
fabrics I used to just two fabrics per feather. This way I could show
off all the pretty so much more easily!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_iGWvYEyrZo/VxBlPFEV7nI/AAAAAAAAJYk/Bz5yZG_4zPUVkmaFpg2IcDMeNfdqVY5oACLcB/s1600/Yellow%2Bfeather.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-_iGWvYEyrZo/VxBlPFEV7nI/AAAAAAAAJYk/Bz5yZG_4zPUVkmaFpg2IcDMeNfdqVY5oACLcB/s320/Yellow%2Bfeather.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The hardest part of this entire quilt? Taking photos. I had to bribe my children with ice cream to help me. They weren't the best help - in the end I held the quilt, my 5 year old snapped the photos. I think she did fairly well! Though just to prove that it didn't all go so smoothly, and because it's fun, here are some of the outtakes from the Blueberry Feathers photo shoot!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yy0nIeEhBvg/VxBjWugOwTI/AAAAAAAAJYg/GJWMyaZ_Gl4TJoKFiKnTrdAoHJ-NzNX_ACKgB/s1600/Blueberry%2BFeathers%2BOuttakes%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-yy0nIeEhBvg/VxBjWugOwTI/AAAAAAAAJYg/GJWMyaZ_Gl4TJoKFiKnTrdAoHJ-NzNX_ACKgB/s320/Blueberry%2BFeathers%2BOuttakes%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
However I got some lovely photos of it, which I'm thrilled about as this lovely quilt now belongs to Karen Lewis herself (talk about pressure making the quilt for the designer of the stunning fabric!).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-o2BmhBye7G8/VxBjWhqf4cI/AAAAAAAAJYg/g6Rdqkdr5FA_gtBV76t2fp4FR_d2PzdHQCKgB/s1600/Blueberry%2BFeathers%2BQuilt%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay%2B3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-o2BmhBye7G8/VxBjWhqf4cI/AAAAAAAAJYg/g6Rdqkdr5FA_gtBV76t2fp4FR_d2PzdHQCKgB/s320/Blueberry%2BFeathers%2BQuilt%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea%2Bof%2BQuiet%2BPlay%2B3.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Ah so much pretty and happiness all in one photo. Quilty bliss.<br />

You know - the little things that make your paper piecing life just a tad bit easier. It seems like it's my duty as a paper piecing fanatic to share some of these with you! So here are a couple of things that will make your paper piecing less of a chore.<br />
<br />
Stitch Length<br />
Now we all know the basics - shorten your stitch length. I usually shorten mine down to 1.5 on my Bernina. Which is great for when it comes to tearing off the papers, but is a pain in the bum if you have to unpick it. If you do have a seam to sew that you're a bit worried about (like when joining sections or angles), whack that stitch length up to max, use it as a basting stitch and then see how your pieces line up. If it's all good, then you can resew it with the short stitch length. If it need unpicking, trust me, you'll be glad you used a longer stitch!<br />
<br />
Piecing Angles<br />
I've actually done a tutorial year ago about how I piece angles. It's still my go-to method for angles. You can always just get a large chunk of fabric and hope for the best, but I've found using this method is pretty accurate. You can see <a href="http://quietplay.blogspot.com.au/2012/10/tutorial-paper-piecing-angles.html" target="_blank">the tutorial here.</a><br />
<br />
Joining Sections<br />
Now I also have a tutorial for those new to paper piecing about joining the sections together (which you can see <a href="http://quietplay.blogspot.com.au/2013/02/introduction-to-paper-piecing-putting.html" target="_blank">here</a>). But there's one thing I mentioned briefly, that I think deserves a bit more attention - and that's removing paper from the seam allowances as you join sections together.<br />
<br />
You might be wondering why I'm making a song and dance about this - surely you can just remove the paper all at the end? Sure. You can. But. With this method, it's a lot easier and you're less likely to need tweezers to get the paper out of cross seams. Also your block lies flatter when your join the sections, less bulk, and it looks prettier. But the main bonus is it's easier at the end when you're removing the paper!<br />
<br />
Here's one I prepared earlier! You can see I have joined sections together in this photo. I like to take the paper off as soon as I've stitched the two sections together (so I do it while I'm still at the sewing machine, photos are just on my cutting mat for a better background!).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gqIWo6yi8-Q/VwBUdxVrZGI/AAAAAAAAJV4/F6VH3Vck0rAKvvAMreHKItvDnOe7FgQxg/s1600/Removing%2Bpaper%2B1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gqIWo6yi8-Q/VwBUdxVrZGI/AAAAAAAAJV4/F6VH3Vck0rAKvvAMreHKItvDnOe7FgQxg/s320/Removing%2Bpaper%2B1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's the seam allowance I'm talking about. To make it easier to tear off, fold it down first along the seam line, then tear it off. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-J9HXB6zt-8s/VwBUemYyPrI/AAAAAAAAJWI/3VUHfLx5JkEjlZhhF5wv2Q69ruAegCIZg/s1600/Removing%2Bpaper%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-J9HXB6zt-8s/VwBUemYyPrI/AAAAAAAAJWI/3VUHfLx5JkEjlZhhF5wv2Q69ruAegCIZg/s320/Removing%2Bpaper%2B2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
You need to do this for both sides of the seam. So you'll end up with two skinny bits of paper torn off for each seam.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ph_N2tWUXCo/VwBUeiVTBZI/AAAAAAAAJWI/aTEopAq_LJ0oC1tPwgTndqs-Yn4rSOabQ/s1600/Removing%2Bpaper%2B3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ph_N2tWUXCo/VwBUeiVTBZI/AAAAAAAAJWI/aTEopAq_LJ0oC1tPwgTndqs-Yn4rSOabQ/s320/Removing%2Bpaper%2B3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here's how it looks when all the seam allowances are removed and the block has been ironed. You can see without the bulk in those seam allowances, the block lays quite flat.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wTwWWBy5XLs/VwBUfP4NyjI/AAAAAAAAJWI/nOw1S47e8zMJV7w0uT-2ZaTZG6o89OrLQ/s1600/Removing%2Bpaper%2B4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wTwWWBy5XLs/VwBUfP4NyjI/AAAAAAAAJWI/nOw1S47e8zMJV7w0uT-2ZaTZG6o89OrLQ/s320/Removing%2Bpaper%2B4.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
But the best part of doing this as you go, is when you sew all the sections together, you don't have tiny bits of paper caught in the cross seam. Those are not fun to try to remove!<br />
<br />
Hopefully these tips will help with your paper piecing. I know not everyone loves the process as much as I (and that's ok! Sometimes I like to regular piece too, believe it or not!), but these ought to make things go a little more smoothly and take some of the pain out of the technique!<br />
<br />
<br />
And for the curious - this is the above block when it was finished. A little miniature Millennium Falcon, of course! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lMC3o5XXymg/VwBXvzj_DqI/AAAAAAAAJWQ/hRx9ewvAcWsWRTp047kc8N5XxNiEyRIfA/s1600/Paper%2Bpieced%2BMillennium%2BFalcon.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lMC3o5XXymg/VwBXvzj_DqI/AAAAAAAAJWQ/hRx9ewvAcWsWRTp047kc8N5XxNiEyRIfA/s320/Paper%2Bpieced%2BMillennium%2BFalcon.png" width="317" /></a></div>
<br />
I've added miniature Star Wars patterns (5" blocks) into <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank">my Craftsy shop</a> as a free download for fellow Star Wars fans ;) <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b4siRF_OPgU/VwBYdSOPjXI/AAAAAAAAJWY/XGBNGhVufRI5ZwpBt7oHybW_rnk5NX05Q/s1600/Star%2BWars%2BMinis.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b4siRF_OPgU/VwBYdSOPjXI/AAAAAAAAJWY/XGBNGhVufRI5ZwpBt7oHybW_rnk5NX05Q/s320/Star%2BWars%2BMinis.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Good luck and happy paper piecing!<br />

You only have to look at my patterns over the last 6 months (or longer?!) to see proof of that. One of my favourites is the geometric sewing machine. I think it must also be a favourite of quilters as it's my best selling pattern!<br />
<br />
So now I have big exciting news! It's been hard to keep this one a secret. I've teamed up with <a href="http://patchworkthreads.com/collections/v-necks/products/geometric-sewing-machine-v-neck" target="_blank">Patchwork Threads</a> and you can now get a geometric sewing machine tshirt. Oh yes, you can declare your love of all things geometric AND sewing, all in one shirt! Woohoo!<br />
<br />

<br />
And because I like more pictures in my posts, here's a quick revisit of the two versions of this patttern I've made. A 16" mini quilt, and then a 5" mini mini version!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xm4FWvN8rt8/VvJAaV2ox9I/AAAAAAAAJU0/OPIesw3KUEchVqo6uGMc4UJ3K4cX7gbAA/s1600/Geo%2BSewing%2BMachine%2BMini%2Bby%2BQuiet%2BPlay.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xm4FWvN8rt8/VvJAaV2ox9I/AAAAAAAAJU0/OPIesw3KUEchVqo6uGMc4UJ3K4cX7gbAA/s400/Geo%2BSewing%2BMachine%2BMini%2Bby%2BQuiet%2BPlay.png" width="400" /></a></div>

Well. Rainbows. Mini Quilts. Really, how's a girl to say no to that? So I signed up faster than you can remember the colour order to "I Can Sing A Rainbow" (which could take awhile if you're like me - I always get the words wrong).<br />
<br />
It was a secret swap - which is something I love. I get to put my stalking skills to good use and try to come up with something tailored just for my partner. That's seriously my favourite part about swaps. It's not about receiving goodies, or stalking the feed to try to guess which one will be mine... it's about pushing my skills to make something special for my swap partner.<br />
<br />
This time round, it took me a few attempts but I came up with the perfect pattern for my partner - who now that she has received her mini - I can reveal was <a href="http://bendigolioness.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank">Fiona of Bendigo Lioness</a>. She has a bit of a fondness for squirrels, so it seemed only natural that a squirrel pattern happen. And voila!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3RiEwHKdjNg/VuOz7UCvaBI/AAAAAAAAJTM/_KXLjXsCq7YTxwNLr1g53GRg28SRpHz-w/s1600/Geometric%2BSquirrel%2Bby%2BQuiet%2BPlay.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-3RiEwHKdjNg/VuOz7UCvaBI/AAAAAAAAJTM/_KXLjXsCq7YTxwNLr1g53GRg28SRpHz-w/s400/Geometric%2BSquirrel%2Bby%2BQuiet%2BPlay.png" width="398" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UwnILMahI8k/VuOzn_C0QFI/AAAAAAAAJTA/fmg2xjYvmK870_-uZSyakX0A9INeg86Eg/s1600/Geometric%2BSquirrel%2Bby%2BQuiet%2BPlay.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
I dug into my precious Blueberry Park stash to make this little geometric squirrel. Seriously. I know I rabbit on about Blueberry Park - but it just makes the best rainbow. Add in some cross hatch quilting (you know how I love my straight line quilting!), and the perfect rainbow binding. I've had a few people ask about the binding - it was a random purchase at Walmart when I visited the US last year. So perfect for a rainbow swap!<br />
<br />
Here's one of the sneak peeks that I shared - I was worried that it would be obvious what it was, but I think I managed to keep it secret!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-71_AxKg8B3s/VuOz6__w8qI/AAAAAAAAJTI/4nYtRN72kkoxqn6o5jF01_567s1vBY0gg/s1600/Geometric%2BSquirrel%2BSneak%2BPeek%2Bby%2BQuiet%2BPlay.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="319" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-71_AxKg8B3s/VuOz6__w8qI/AAAAAAAAJTI/4nYtRN72kkoxqn6o5jF01_567s1vBY0gg/s320/Geometric%2BSquirrel%2BSneak%2BPeek%2Bby%2BQuiet%2BPlay.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
If you're keen to make your own geometric squirrel, I have listed the pattern in <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank">my Craftsy shop</a>. Look forward to seeing some secret or not so secret squirrel projects popping up!<br />

<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bNIVpCEgRNg/Vsv07QIov9I/AAAAAAAAJRw/ur608fXKK-8/s1600/Z%2Bspool%2Bby%2BSusie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
I had an idea for a little gift for an IG friend - involving a teeny quilt with a personalised spool on it. It started as an idea for a single letter, and then suddenly, there I am drawing up an entire alphabet. Because why stop at one, right? <br />
<br />
I can't show you my prototype as it hasn't arrived yet but I can show you some of the tester blocks!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bNIVpCEgRNg/Vsv07QIov9I/AAAAAAAAJRw/ur608fXKK-8/s1600/Z%2Bspool%2Bby%2BSusie.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bNIVpCEgRNg/Vsv07QIov9I/AAAAAAAAJRw/ur608fXKK-8/s320/Z%2Bspool%2Bby%2BSusie.jpg" width="311" /></a></div>
<br />
This gorgeous one is by Susie of<a href="http://susiessunroom.blogspot.com.au/" target="_blank"> Susie's Sunroom</a>. How perfect is it - and that background is one of my absolute faves (Sticks and Twine by Alison Glass).<br />
<br />
And here's another from Becky (@keizerquilts on IG). Ah these make my quilty heart sing!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y_oQYBkYF1U/Vsv07SaB3rI/AAAAAAAAJRs/d3Owx3AmB-8/s1600/B%2BSpool%2Bby%2BBecky.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="301" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y_oQYBkYF1U/Vsv07SaB3rI/AAAAAAAAJRs/d3Owx3AmB-8/s320/B%2BSpool%2Bby%2BBecky.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
So for the curious - here is what the full alphabet looks like - at least in sketch form. It's currently undergoing testing and I'm aiming to have the alphabet available in <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank">my Craftsy shop</a> by the middle of March. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank"><img alt="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" border="0" height="400" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-W-RPuFPsMTE/Vsv07O8Vf3I/AAAAAAAAJRo/ag4KEhO4tqc/s400/Rainbow%2BAlphabet%2BSpools%2BPaper%2BPieced%2BPattern%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea.jpg" width="287" /></a></div>
<br />
If you're on IG, you can see the tester blocks that are popping up under #AlphabetSpools. Can't wait to see more! <br />
<br />

Or maybe just a bit of an obsession. I don't think it's going to come as a secret to those of you who hang out on IG that I have a bit of an infatuation with feathers of late. The paper pieced kind. And lately - ones made with Blueberry Park.<br />
<br />
Exhibit A:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r0gNi_7r1Ec/Vr1xSU7h1BI/AAAAAAAAJPY/mPV4OAA3MnE/s1600/Blueberry%2BFeathers%2B3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-r0gNi_7r1Ec/Vr1xSU7h1BI/AAAAAAAAJPY/mPV4OAA3MnE/s320/Blueberry%2BFeathers%2B3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Oh these make my quilty heart so happy. I've felt like there need to be feathers made in allll the colours of Blueberry Park. So I am on a mission.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9bxl-wEVDRc/Vr1xTQu65gI/AAAAAAAAJPY/tDSa_Ulzqa0/s1600/Blueberry%2BPark%2BFabrics.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="219" src="https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-9bxl-wEVDRc/Vr1xTQu65gI/AAAAAAAAJPY/tDSa_Ulzqa0/s320/Blueberry%2BPark%2BFabrics.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
It started like this. All the pretty fabrics laid out ready to make pretty pretty feathers. Did I mention they're pretty? And I just keep making them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fSqLOxGm-Dw/Vr1xUJQ3ONI/AAAAAAAAJPY/Tg5y0340E-k/s1600/Yellow%2Bfeather.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fSqLOxGm-Dw/Vr1xUJQ3ONI/AAAAAAAAJPY/Tg5y0340E-k/s320/Yellow%2Bfeather.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Seriously. How much perfection is there in this line of fabric? It's by Karen Lewis and if you haven't already added this to your stash, run or click to your nearest fabric shop and get some. Or a lot. Or like an endless supply if possible. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uDtEcQZ3bg8/Vr1xS-_cD9I/AAAAAAAAJPY/-LKlt2d5o5g/s1600/Blueberry%2BFeathers1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-uDtEcQZ3bg8/Vr1xS-_cD9I/AAAAAAAAJPY/-LKlt2d5o5g/s320/Blueberry%2BFeathers1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
So with 10 of these feathers made (must do an updated photo soon!), and a plan for another 18, expect to see a bunch more of these popping up around the place. <br /><br />And if you're keen to make your own feathers, I have two feather patterns in <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank">my Craftsy shop</a> currently. One is more detailed which I used to make this quilt (must blog about it one of these days). Each feather has around 60 pieces. So I'm not kidding about a more detailed feather. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0KCPvXqxPv8/Vr10g6xek5I/AAAAAAAAJP4/SI5nYwwDG3Y/s1600/Feathers%2BQuilt.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-0KCPvXqxPv8/Vr10g6xek5I/AAAAAAAAJP4/SI5nYwwDG3Y/s320/Feathers%2BQuilt.png" width="260" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
Then there's the Simplified Feather pattern which looks a little like this. A lot less pieces. And this one can easily be adapted to be simpler again with just two prints per feather - like all my Blueberry Park Feathers I'm making :) Versatility. That's what it's all about my friends. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O9PnpuZuW6s/Vr1z6m76-3I/AAAAAAAAJPo/TzeP6gedP64/s1600/Simplified%2BFeathers.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O9PnpuZuW6s/Vr1z6m76-3I/AAAAAAAAJPo/TzeP6gedP64/s320/Simplified%2BFeathers.png" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-urT4lEfqFPY/Vr1zUNx6trI/AAAAAAAAJPg/mEIjM9i0nQ4/s1600/Feathers%2Bby%2BKristy%2BLea.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
If anyone's looking for me, I'll be at my sewing machine. Sewing more feathers. Because - pretty.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GlAujUKSYWg/Vr1xTgmylpI/AAAAAAAAJPY/5WKup3AcMdA/s1600/Red%2BFeather.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-GlAujUKSYWg/Vr1xTgmylpI/AAAAAAAAJPY/5WKup3AcMdA/s320/Red%2BFeather.jpg" width="315" /></a></div>

Obviously I have survived the first few days of school. Hooray! Much rejoicing. Thank you so much to everyone for their kind words. My son is settling in beautifully after homeschooling, and my daughter is just loving Kindy. Whew.<br />
<br />
In an attempt to consume less chocolate and junk, I decided to try to sew my feelings instead of eat them. Not as much sewing happened as I would have liked. But designing happened. And that's just as good. <br />
<br />
I didn't plan on new Star Wars patterns. It kind of just... happened. See here's how it came about. A post came up on IG about a Star Wars swap - appropriately entitled "May the Fourth Be With you" with posting dates for... you guessed it... May 4th. (Btw if you're interested, I believe there are still spaces available - sign up via the link in @justjoshinkids profile. Of course I had to sign up for this. It's like I had no choice. Jedi mind tricks. Obviously. Then... Jennifer (@downstairsdesigns) suggested a geometric AT AT. Well. Challenge accepted, my friends.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" target="_blank"><img alt="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-X3IgCI_f6W0/VrBXtgNtSTI/AAAAAAAAJOU/1wTU12XY0NY/s320/AT%2BAT.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
And then I couldn't just stop there. How about a Millenium Falcon? Or a Tie Fighter? Oh but the dilemma.. do I prefer the silhouette version or the geometric version? In the end... I've decided to hell with it - let's have all 6 patterns.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore"><img alt="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" border="0" height="287" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KsnL7SjkHJA/VrBXt5rKH9I/AAAAAAAAJOg/N0RLsBvBvHc/s400/Star%2BWars%2Bpatterns.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
They are currently undergoing testing then I'll have them listed as freebies (that's right, free, woohoo!) in <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore">my Craftsy shop</a>. These -are- the patterns you're looking for. Okay, I'm done with Star Wars quotes. For now. ;)<br />
<br />

After a year and a half of homeschooling, my boy (now 8) is going back to regular school. It's a little nerve wracking but I think it's the right decision - he's keen to return and I may or may not also be keen for him to return. My daughter starts school this year so it came down to the decision - homeschool them both or send them both back to school. I didn't think my sanity could cope with homeschooling the two of them (my hat is off to those of you who homeschool multiple children, seriously!) so we are giving regular schooling another shot. I figure if it doesn't work out, we can always homeschool again and I'll be that awful indecisive mother they all talk about in the staffroom! ;)<br />
<br />
So what does this have to do with quilting or sewing or crafting of any type?! Well. Naturally I can't send the kids to school without something made by Mummy. Cos I'm a sap of the first kind. I'd picked up some fabric awhile back for library bags and just had to sit down and get it done. With less than a week til school starts, my procrastination wasn't too terrible.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NGouvzQOffQ/VqVozi5b5nI/AAAAAAAAJNg/yqK61wq2OEY/s1600/Library%2Bbags.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-NGouvzQOffQ/VqVozi5b5nI/AAAAAAAAJNg/yqK61wq2OEY/s400/Library%2Bbags.jpg" width="395" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-GBtfkyKfWqc/VqVnXJl2QvI/AAAAAAAAJM8/VuACdTIBpew/s1600/Library%2Bbags.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<br />
Naturally it's Frozen for my daughter and Star Wars for my son - the running theme in our household for the past oh I don't know, ever. I went for a simple lined book bag with a single long strap. Honestly the thinking-about-the-project part took way longer than the actual making. When will I ever learn that lesson? Just sit down and sew!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yC-0cYU-3Rc/VqVo70m2MkI/AAAAAAAAJNo/kjEFNQ-JAEY/s1600/Elsa%2BLibrary%2BBag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yC-0cYU-3Rc/VqVo70m2MkI/AAAAAAAAJNo/kjEFNQ-JAEY/s400/Elsa%2BLibrary%2BBag.jpg" width="341" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JNSbnm9of_8/VqVnX6ENXvI/AAAAAAAAJNQ/jddBy5BTWF8/s1600/Elsa%2BLibrary%2BBag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TdpJ-gASASw/VqVnYU2A60I/AAAAAAAAJNY/5QgWBsksyIE/s1600/Star%2BWars%2Blibrary%2Bbag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I719XFT3PF0/VqVo8YbR8_I/AAAAAAAAJNs/UQTreRxqSFg/s1600/Star%2BWars%2Blibrary%2Bbag.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-I719XFT3PF0/VqVo8YbR8_I/AAAAAAAAJNs/UQTreRxqSFg/s400/Star%2BWars%2Blibrary%2Bbag.jpg" width="356" /></a></div>
<br />
Most importantly, the library bags got the kids' tick of approval and my Mummy guilt (that never ends) is assuaged that my children will go to school with something handmade tucked into their schoolbag. So wish me luck this week - I foresee much sew-therapy in my near future. <br /><br />Kristy @ Quiet Playhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12676231528874212575noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4800978518990634193.post-26188676402699572242016-01-21T17:35:00.004+11:002016-01-21T17:35:52.113+11:00This blogging shenanigans!Hello long neglected blog - and to those readers who might still pop in now and then (thank you!). I must admit since becoming quite busy with homeschooling, <a href="http://www.makemodern.com.au/">Make Modern</a> and sharing my quilty nonsense on Instagram, my time and interest in my blog has waned. Sadly. But I am hoping to make a little more effort this year.<br />
<br />
For those that have been with me for some time, you'll have noticed that I chose not to have a paper pieced BoM this year, like previous years. I did um and ah over it for a little while, but I found my memory faulty at remembering to post current monthly blocks, and my interest was in coming up with more new patterns rather than keeping the same ones for a long time. Apologies to those who were looking for a new paper pieced BoM but I can assure you I have lots of new patterns on their way (including lowercase geo alphabet plus numbers and punctuation)!<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore"><img alt="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore" border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-y9wnLnJaWVs/VqB39OJOlgI/AAAAAAAAJMc/jwkbpItNbVI/s400/QP%2Bpatterns.jpg" width="287" /></a></div>
I have however reopened <a href="http://www.shareasale.com/r.cfm?u=719951&b=403311&m=29190&afftrack=&urllink=www%2Ecraftsy%2Ecom%2Fuser%2F381424%2Fpattern%2Dstore">my Craftsy store</a>.
I currently have the two shops running -<a href="http://www.payhip.com/quietplay"> Payhip </a>which is great for EU
customers as it takes care of the VAT for me and now Craftsy for those
not in the EU. I know people like the features on Craftsy in being able
to save patterns to your library etc, so I'm hoping you'll find this
helpful. <br />

I can't make any promises but I shall at least endeavour to make the effort to post a little more in the future. I discussed with Jane (Editor of Make Modern and one of my quilty besties) the whole IG vs blogging thing. We both love Instagram but there is something to be said for blogging, and having a little more detail shared about a project. Not to mention being able to peruse it at your leisure, rather than possibly missing a pic of something amazing on IG because you were doing something crazy like oh I don't know, sleeping. So no guarantees, but I'll at least try ;) Kristy @ Quiet Playhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12676231528874212575noreply@blogger.com14tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4800978518990634193.post-84550593382947811382015-09-04T12:56:00.001+10:002015-09-04T12:56:46.498+10:00Zoo Animals - September BlockAnd tada! It's September and we're up to the final block! I trust you'll forgive me for being a few days late posting this - I have only just returned from travelling overseas. But as an apology (and because it's my birthday), here's a discount code for my payhip shop! 25% off all patterns, valid until the 11th September.<br />

Each
pattern makes a 10” block. The patterns range in skill level and I will
be sharing the easier ones first leading up to the hardest at the end
(I’m looking at you Mr Lion). Each month there will be one free pattern
made available. It becomes a paid pattern on the 1st of the next month
(Australian time because I’m Australian) and the next pattern becomes
available. Or if you can’t wait for all of the patterns to become
available, you can pick up the entire bundle in <a href="http://www.payhip.com/quietplay">my shop.</a><br />
<br />
Please
note that while I’m sharing the easier ones first, these aren’t super
simple basic paper pieced patterns. Mainly because of the eyes which
tend to have small pieces. However I quite like the charm of the eyes in
the patterns so I decided to keep them in and have a mid range skill
level this year. <br />
<br />
You can pop by <a href="http://www.payhip.com/quietplay">my shop</a>

July! This year is just flying by isn't it! So let's go on with the next

<br />
You can find it for free in my<a href="http://www.payhip.com/quietplay"> payhip shop</a> for the month of July. (PS for the next two days you can also get 25% off any of the patterns in my shop - just use the code "LoveFPP" Enjoy!). <br />

It seemed only natural that a sewing machine silhouette was on the list to go all geometric. With the great excuse of having to come up with something for a swap (#alisonglassminiquiltswap for the curious), I got busy and came up with this!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Y5UaNgwv4jc/VVqL8IWHqGI/AAAAAAAAJFY/MKgtqrQ6lp4/s1600/Geo%2Bsewing%2Bmachines.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q2NSMnb-Kek/VVqJ-mnxhQI/AAAAAAAAJE4/NHGnZiizRJM/s1600/geo%2Bsewing%2Bmachine%2Bby%2Bquietplay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="397" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-q2NSMnb-Kek/VVqJ-mnxhQI/AAAAAAAAJE4/NHGnZiizRJM/s400/geo%2Bsewing%2Bmachine%2Bby%2Bquietplay.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This mini quilt is just filled with things I love. A vintage sewing machine, geometric design, rainbow (rainbow! who doesn't love rainbows?!) and Alison Glass's Sun Prints.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T4xoXw5FMCo/VVqJ_WiicpI/AAAAAAAAJFE/P2cbAdz2tgw/s1600/quilting%2Bgeo%2Bsewing%2Bmachine%2Bby%2Bquietplay.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="391" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-T4xoXw5FMCo/VVqJ_WiicpI/AAAAAAAAJFE/P2cbAdz2tgw/s400/quilting%2Bgeo%2Bsewing%2Bmachine%2Bby%2Bquietplay.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I finished it off with some straight line quilting, bound with some pretty Bike Path print and called it done!<br />
<br />
The pattern for this is foundation paper pieced (no surprise there) and you can find it in <a href="http://www.payhip.com/quietplay">my shop</a>. And here's a little mockup of how the pattern might look in single colours too. For me, rainbow was clearly the winner. Because rainbow. <a href="http://www.payhip.com/quietplay"><br /></a><br />

I'm linking this up in the Mini Quilt section for the <a href="http://amyscreativeside.com/2015/05/15/bloggers-quilt-festival-spring-2015/">Blogger's Quilt Festival</a>. You can find more details about the festival <a href="http://amyscreativeside.com/2015/05/15/bloggers-quilt-festival-spring-2015/">here</a>. Go check out all that pretty quilty eye candy! Have fun!<br />
