Zoo Animals - May Block

May! May means a new block. My daughter has her birthday this month so I decided to share the pattern of her favourite animal - the giraffe. My girl has a toy giraffe, creatively named "Giraffey Giraffey" that goes everywhere with her (along with a pack of 5 unicorns). So this block was designed in Giraffey Giraffey's honour.





A quick refresher on how the BoM works. There are 9 patterns which will take you through to September. That gives you the last few months of the year to get the patterns finished and put together into a fun quilt or wallhanging.

Zoo BoM

Each pattern makes a 10” block. The patterns range in skill level and I will be sharing the easier ones first leading up to the hardest at the end (I’m looking at you Mr Lion). Each month there will be one free pattern made available. It becomes a paid pattern on the 1st of the next month (Australian time because I’m Australian) and the next pattern becomes available. Or if you can’t wait for all of the patterns to become available, you can pick up the entire bundle in my shop.

Please note that while I’m sharing the easier ones first, these aren’t super simple basic paper pieced patterns. Mainly because of the eyes which tend to have small pieces. However I quite like the charm of the eyes in the patterns so I decided to keep them in and have a mid range skill level this year.

    Help! For some reason your link for this month's giraffe isn't working & I don't see it on Craftsy. I plan on making a quilt for my 7 month old granddaughter for Christmas this year. I know she'll love seeing & learning about the different animals.

      I'm not sure why the links aren't working, I have double checked and they are the correct links and open ok as far as I can tell. The patterns aren't on Craftsy though - they are in my payhip shop. www.payhip.com/quietplay. Hope that helps!

    When choosing fabrics for this month from my stash, I had a yellow print all picked out and then, wouldn't you know, I found giraffe print at the bottom of the pile! Why I even had it is beyond me but it turned out perfect! Thanks for these great patterns!
