Sew Kitschy Round-up + let’s talk BoMs

Hard to believe that Sew Kitschy is done! Doesn’t the time fly. I have absolutely loved seeing your Sew Kitschy blocks, your fabric choices and the way you have made your blocks your own. So many happy Betty’s in gorgeous kitchens all over the place! I hope you enjoyed the BoM and well done those who made it right through to the end with that last tricky block!

I thought it might be fun to see what everyone has done with their blocks – whether they have been put together into a big wallhanging or used as single little projects. So I’ve added a linky party to the end of this post for you to share your projects. It’ll be open til the end of the year so plenty of time to share! Thanks everyone who was a part of the BoM this year!

So… what next? I am wondering about a BoM for next year. I thought I’d post here and gauge interest. We’ve had a sewing theme one in 2013 (And Sew On) and the retro kitchen themed Sew Kitschy this year. But I can’t decide on a theme. So feel free to throw suggestions my way. I can’t guarantee at this stage whether a BoM will be definite for next year – it depends on time and inspiration, but it’s definitely on my “maybe” list! So drop me a line and let me know your thoughts!

In the meantime don’t forget to link up your finished Sew Kitschy projects!

Happy sewing friends!

  1. No finished project for me yet -- I am going to make a big wall hanging with the Sew Kitschy and Sew Retro bundles! I think a garden theme would be really fun :)

  3. I had SEW much fun with these.... I drool over your animal ones you made, so I'd vote anything critter related like that- maybe zoo animals, or flowers like someone said here, or girly like baby girly and baby boyish- so most blocks would just swap out the colors, but a few would be different, like boy and girl clothing.....didn't you also start a Betty sewing BOM? or is that just in a magazine?
how about a modified/modern sunbonnet sue? or houses thru the months....hmmm lots of ideas. PLEASE do something :)

  4. Hi Kristy! Thank you for the bom! It was fantastic, even I didn't have time to finish my Project. First I thought to join the gang with 'garden' theme, but cloths would be Super fun. Any kind cloths, big and small, shoes, socks, blouse, pants, jumper, jacket, bag ... that would make cool wall quilt to every sewist! x Teje

  5. Hi: Thanks for this BOM. I need to finish the last two and then decide what to do. I like the idea of clothes BOM or baby stuff, but whatever you choose would be lovely. Thank to you, I lose the fear of paper piecing.

  6. Congrats to your success...... What about Frozen for the inspiration for a PP Bom. I can say I have completed a few blocks, I wish I had done more, but Illness has kept me from completing anything, but it is a goal for Dec. Thank you many times over for being so sharing, I loved this Bom and theme. We could also a Art Quilt.. theme..

  7. Animals are always fun (elephants being my personal favorite) so that would be my vote. Maybe a zoo theme or a baby animal theme. A bug BOM would be fun too. Another idea ... a calendar BOM. (I'm envisioning a calendar with swappable pieces but that might be too involved.) I hope you feel inspired as I enjoy your BOMs a great deal.

  8. I would enjoy a garden theme. There are many garden tools, gloves, watering can, and hoses just to name a few.

  9. Have had so much fun on Sew Kitschy BOM. Still working on it, as work got busy.
I am definitely in for next year, if you are thinking of one.
Could I suggest a floral or garden theme, maybe? Or pets/animals would be my third choice.

  12. Thanks so much for your wonderful BOM's. I've really enjoyed working on them. Like many others, I like the idea of flowers/gardening or animals. The baby theme is also a good one. Another idea is something like fruits and veggies. Whatever you decide to do, I'll be happy to play along!
