This block marks our halfway point in the Sew Kitschy BoM! Please feel free to join me in my general freaking out that this year has flown by so fast already (let’s all flail muppet-style together). Right. Moving on.
So I ummed and ahhed over which block should be the next one for May. Then I decided to go with the one that I actually have made! So lovelies, your block for this month is the fabulous retro mixer!
Our hostess with the mostess Betty uses hers all the time. I know you’re not surprised – she’s such a whiz in the kitchen, that Betty. She probably even makes her own crackers and bread from scratch. Food snob that she is, I bet store-bought food never even graces her kitchen. I’m really starting to dislike Betty (that or I’d like to marry her. I’m not certain). I’m sure she has some terrible redeeming flaw though… like.. I bet she doesn’t make her bed on Sundays. I might like her a little more if that’s the case.
So here’s my block. I decided to make this one for Synnove for the Wee Bee – as her theme is the kitchen. Perfect right? It was a bit fun working with colours outside of my usual palette – I just hope Synnove likes them too!
Now there are a few seams to match up in this one. But you can do it. I have faith in you. If in doubt, pin the sections together and sew it with a long basting stitch. Then if it’s wrong, at least it’s easier to unpick than the teeny tiny paper piecing stitches. And if it’s right, well just whip over it again with the teeny tiny paper piecing stitches and Bob’s your uncle.
So what are you waiting for? Head over to my Craftsy shop and pick this pattern up while it’s free – which is for the month of May. After that it will join its fellow patterns in earning their keep and paying for store-bought bread and crackers for my family. Or if you're super keen and just can't be bothered waiting on a new pattern each month, well feel free to pick up the entire Sew Kitschy bundle all in one hit. The bundle is also listed in my Craftsy shop.
So happy sewing, my friends. Can’t wait to see how your blocks turn out! Make sure you share them here in the Sew Kitschy May block Linky party so we can all admire them!
Oh thank goodness I've done this one! I'm behind, so I guess this is catchup month for me!
ReplyDeletecant wait to start
ReplyDeleteLove this one and I will definitely have to turn it into something! Thanks for the pattern Kristy!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tip about basting the seam before sewing properly, I drove myself mad unpicking last months teapot.
ReplyDeleteLove this block Kristy, I am sure that Betty's paper-piecing skills are nowhere near as good as yours :)
ReplyDeleteI love this one. We had a yellow/mustard Sunbeam that looked just like it :)
ReplyDeleteJust linked up, what a fun block
