Making Christmas + Pattern Sale

So first up, I thought I would update my list for Making Christmas. My gorgeous friend Erin from Missy Mac Creations is hosting this week – pop over and check out her super cute Christmas treat ideas – lollipop nose reindeers, elves and Santas!. Clever girl has written up the tutorial with printables and listed it as a freebie on Craftsy. Can’t get better than that!

Firstly though, on the topic of Christmas treats… I thought I’d share what we made for J’s classmates this year.  I was very tempted to use Erin’s fab lollipop nose critters – but drew the line at cutting out 24 of them as I don’t think my joints would stand up to that! I briefly considered having my kidlet write out Christmas cards and putting a candy cane in (like the rest of the class has done). But for a boy who doesn’t enjoy writing… that seemed more like punishment than fun.

So instead we made cute little treat bags! They were so easy to do too (and just quietly, I think much more fun than a card and candy cane!).

Christmas treat bags

We went lolly-free with this plan too. Each little bag has a Christmas balloon, some stickers, glitter snowflakes and a little jingle bell. I bought the topper from Etsy (from this shop)– an instant download then I printed them all out and we were good to go!

Christmas treat bags for the class

J was so excited to hand these out for school, and they were well received too! He wrote his name on the back of each of them which was more than enough writing for one sitting. I was very proud of him for making it through all 24 without complaint!

And now to update my Making Christmas list!

1. 2 x tote bags for the teacher’s aides in my kidlet’s classroom as end of year gifts.  Done! And I ended up making three, so I had one to give to the casual teacher who fills in regularly for the classroom teacher.

2. A maple leaf wreath mini for me – just because I can’t get the idea of this out of my head. No more progress. I’ve lost motivation. Sad but true.

3. Cushions for Mum’s lounge – Christmas present. I just need to add the zips and I’m done!
4. Secret Santa gift for Wombat Stew. Secret squirrels but I’m on it!

5. Some kind of handmade gift for the kidlets for Christmas. I’m making them cushions! You’ll find out more about that soon during a fun upcoming blog hop care of MsMidge! These are on the agenda today!

6. DWR Challenge finished – that one has an earlier deadline than Christmas so must get moving on that one! BIG progress here! It’s finished!

7.  Christmas mini quilt – Finished! Yay!

Want to keep accountable for your own Christmas and end of year sewing? Pop over and link up with Erin at Missy Mac Creations this week Smile

So that’s my Christmas happenings! I also belatedly decided to jump in on the big sales happening around the Interwebs. I have marked down my patterns by 30%. Ok well I have marked down the Top Ten patterns of mine in my Craftsy shop.
 Top 10 Quiet Play patterns

I am more than happy to apply the 30% discount to any other patterns – it’s just that there’s no way to apply the discount to all the patterns in one hit. It has to be done individually. I have 136 patterns – that’s an awful lot of individual adjusting, and I have sewing to do! Winking smile So if you want patterns that aren’t marked down, drop me a line (kristyqp at gmail dot com) and I can send you a discounted paypal invoice for the patterns you’d like.

Whew I think that’s all for today! Now to get back to the sewing so I can mark a few more things off my Christmas list!

  10. Hi there,

I stumped upon your blog when I saw it in my Etsy Traffic Sources. I designed those toppers and you did a great job with them. Thank you very much for the positive review here and the linkback. :)
