Sorry for the late afternoon stained-glass looking pic. I have very limited spots I can take photos of quilts at my house and I haven’t yet figured out the good spring-time-sun places! But you get the idea of how it looks!
So the fabric is Koi – and it’s oh so pretty. The pattern is Starlit by Heather Mulder Peterson from her book Living Large 2. Now the thing I love about this book is the quilts are all designed to show off larger scale fabric prints. I love being able to let the fabrics speak for themselves so this seemed the perfect pattern!
So now I must get busy. I have two lap size quilt tops to baste, quilt and bind. Both are destined to be end of year gifts for people important in my son’s life – his Kindy teacher and his Occupational Therapist. What better way to say thank you for their hard work than with a quilt!?
Oh and for the curious – thanks so much for the name suggestions for my Feathers quilt pattern – I’ve decided to name it Winterbound. Kind of like… flying geese… geese fly south for the winter… quilts are made for winter… so winter bound. Well it makes sense in my head ;)
And that’s where I’m up to this WiP Wed! Now to get busy and turn these WiPs into FOs!

ReplyDeleteIt's gorgeous Kristy a star of a quilt indeed! Basting is a necessary evil sadly, hope you fly through it quickly and get to the fun quilting sooner rather than later!

ReplyDeleteHard to pick a favorite here! Love them both for different reasons. Can't wait to see how you quilt these! Its always such a dilemma. The quilting has to make sense to me in some way, not that is would make sense to anyone else :)

ReplyDeleteLove both projects. When my boys were little I used to make quilts as gifts for everyone in their lives too. Now that they are teens... they just know too many people. I am so glad there are people out there still doing it.
