Daydream Giveaway!

---GIVEAWAY NOW CLOSED---
Winner is Deb @ Simple Life Quilts :)

I’ve been thinking lately that it must be about time for a giveaway. And it just so happens I got some super happy mail today. Mail that looks a bit like this:

Daydream charm pack

Actually the happy mail looked like this x two. I bought one charm pack for me and one to give away Winking smile There are some (few!) perks to buying fabric in Australia – we tend to get the pre-cuts earlier (though we pay double the price!). It helps make up for the fact that our quilting fabric costs $24 a metre, or if we order online, we pay $24 in shipping. Yay for early release pre-cuts, I say! Smile

Daydream CP

My pics don't do this line justice - but if you're a Kate Spain, you know it's gorgeous. (And I didn't want to open up my own pretty charm pack just for a photo. I need to admire it all packed up for a bit longer!).

So I’m sharing the joy! All you have to do for a chance at winning a Daydream charm pack is leave a comment. I’d really like suggestions on what you’d like to see in a paper pieced BoM: be it a theme idea, a different way for it to be run, what you like about BoMs, what you don’t like… plenty of scope there to come up with a comment! Give me something interesting to read!.

Want a bonus chance? Follow my blog and leave a separate comment letting me know how you follow. Too easy Smile

Fine print: Giveaway is open til 8pm 21st October (Aussie time) and I will pick the winner and email them– so make sure you’re not a no-reply blogger – I need to have a way to contact you if you should be the winner. Everyone is welcome to enter - happy to post internationally. Oh and I probably won’t reply to giveaway comments as it can sometimes be a little overwhelming!

Good luck!

  1. I haven't had the time yet to do a BOM....but I am sure you are doing just fine with it.
    Thanks for the giveaway

  2. It would be neat to have a BOM that starts simple and increases in difficulty gradually so you don't even realize how good you've become! Every BOM I tried was just too much too fast and I lost interest. Good luck :)

  3. I have never tried paper peiceing. I am a little intimidated by the process, but doing BOM's are great. When you do a different type of block each month, you get to learn something new and maybe even learn a new technique or even a new way of doing things. Thank you for the giveaway.

  5. I haven't done a BOM yet but would love to join a mid-century themed one that starts fairly easy and then progresses. Thanks for the chance at the giveaway!

  6. I haven't done paper piecing of a BOM yet so it would be a great way to tackle both, I would be looking for something cheerful - the kind of project that makes me smile and I can't stop myself joining in. A better description might be bright nature, weather or symbols.

  14. I love the idea of a kitchen theme. Would make some awesome placemats, or oven mits or pot holders. I've only done a few paper-pieced projects so a BOM sounds like a great way to get better at it. Thanks for the giveaway!

I would love to join a QAL for a similar quilt! Don't know if it would work for a BOM since there are lots of blocks, but if it did I would definitely join in! Thank you for the giveaway!

  18. hi, i want to paper piece a flying duck (not a flying goose/geese - jeez, I'm sure you know what I mean). I have no idea how I or you could turn that into a BOM but if you ever get round to doing a pattern for a flying duck, please let me know! thanks melanie99@gmail.com

  25. The suggestions for a kitchen themed BOM would be fun. I love paper piecing, but I've never done a BOM before. It's on my list to do someday. Thanks for the giveaway!

  27. If you're not tired of cute designs, I'd love to join in on a nursery rhyme theme BOM - Think: incy wincy spider, I'm a little teapot, Twinkle little star, ba ba black sheep, Jack & Jill, Humpty Dumpty - you get the idea lol. It might be a nice addition to mix with your fairytale blocks :)

  32. With 5 grandsons ages 6 mo. to 7 yrs, I would like something to make for them.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Love paper pieced BOMs -- your last one was fabulous! Animals, birds, and flowers are themes that would particularly interest me but I'm sure there are others I haven't thought of and would enjoy. It's fun to see how everyone's blocks turn out.

    ReplyDelete
  34. No need to put me in the give away but you know I like to throw in my 2 cents :). I love boMs because doing 1 block a month is easy peas then , bam!! At the end you have a quilt or a mini and it didn't seem like any work at all. I have 2 ideas for a new BOM. One would be a calendar where the 12 blocks would be themed to each month. That may not be such a good idea since we live in different hemispheres and have opposite seasons. The other idea is to do a sampler of sorts with various geometric blocks. Or a seasons quilt with 2 blocks dedicated to each season if you run it for 8 months.

  35. I love star PP patterns, not so much of a fan of picture blocks. Quilting on the Square has a neat hexi PP BOM which is fun and a little different.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Hmm - how about costumes from around the world?

    ReplyDelete
  37. I am only doing my first one now so don't have much experience...but I like to learn something along the way, like a little history lesson or little-known facts. I like the ones you do where it is like a scene broken apart like the sewing room and all its parts. Maybe a bike-riding theme? Hillside, mailbox, fence w cat...

    ReplyDelete
  38. I follow you through Bloglovin. And I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I've never done a BOM but I think it would be cool to try one designed around pre-cuts - like buy a layer cake and some background yardage and through the BOM you'd use the whole thing.

  50. I'm not sure how you'd achieve it, but how about a BoM that is tiered for experience level - so there'd be one version of the block for beginners, then somehow make it trickier for those with a bit of experience, then have a version of the block for accomplished paper piecers. Perhaps that's a bit tricky, and maybe each block on its own is a natural progression in terms of skill level as the months go by. In terms of themes, perhaps landmarks - eiffel tower, big ben, sydney opera house ... could be a trip around the world with different landmarks. I also like the kitchen themed ideas other people have suggested.

  51. I dont know why its not letting me post my comment. (Maybe it is and its going to appear a thousand times, if so then sorry!!)

Anyway i think A 12 days of christmas theme would be super cute. each block would be a different thing from the song. It could end in october or november so you can finish the quilt in time for christmas.

  53. I would love to see some botanicals ... we are pretty nature-themed in this house, but I need more plant life in my quilts. :) I think a cool mix of leaves would be fun, and it would be easy to come up with easy and more complicated designs. I also love the 12 days of Christmas theme. I would be all over that quilt.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I actually follow you through my Blogger feed. Don't know if that counts. :D

    ReplyDelete
  55. I'm thinking something big. Like one image divided into 9 blocks. You'll need to assemble all the blocks to get the final thing. That would probably help to stay on track, lol. No idea what the image should be though.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Loving bloglovin as I follow you there :-)

    ReplyDelete
  57. I like the 12 days of Christmas theme, I already have lots of ornaments on the theme so a quilt would be a great addition. Like the landmarks theme too, could be a great Blog Hop. Would like to see alternative ideas for using the blocks too. I don't have enough wall space for many more wallhangings :) Again perhaps a Blog Hop could take some of the pressure off of you on that too. You know I love your patterns so will be delighted with whatever you come up with!

  61. I'm always a fan of animal patterns :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. I never made a BOM, but I like that idea, it's changeling even for a beginner like me, but I'd stay on easy blocks i am a bit frightened with paper piecing ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  63. I'd really like to see some kind of alphabet BOM? Would this work?

    ReplyDelete
  64. Your And Sew On BOM was brilliant in that it moved from relatively easy to complicated over the 9 months which helped me build on my confidence and skills. Although I now feel comfortable in jumping in and paper piecing whatever, I think that would be very valuable for any newbies. As for a theme. It's a tough one, Sewing was such a good theme as it's the one thing we (all your readers) have in common! Another thought would be kitchen items, but I know you've already made patterns for those. Reading through some of the other comments, I also like the idea of an animal theme or the landmarks theme (though that is happening on a blog hop at the minute).

    ReplyDelete
  65. I enjoy your blog. Love the previous idea of 12 days of Xmas. Or how about one for tea cups/tea pots.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I am not good with boms. I love them all and start a few but never seem to finish any.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I'd love a nature theme! Maybe trees or animals or perhaps a tree in different seasons!

    ReplyDelete
  68. I'm doing a couple of BOM quilt blocks at the moment and really enjoying it, although sometimes I think it seems a long time between new blocks. I would love to take part in a paper piecing one, I missed out on this one so will be keeping an eye out for the next :-)

    ReplyDelete
  69. I love the BOM ideas already suggested especially the one where the difficulty increases!! Thanks for the chance!!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I follow you via Bloglovin' - thanks for an extra chance!!

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'd like a pp BOM of a Abstract nature theme. Trees, bushes, landscapes. Maybe with an Aussie edge. There's so many amazing birds and wild life there. I think they'd really pop in front of or along with blocks of trees/landscapes that are contemporary and minimal.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I'm a Follower in Bloglovin, thanks for the 2nd chance. Have a great evening/day!

    ReplyDelete
  76. I really need to or want to learn paper piecing...im not quite sure i can leave an idea since i dont know about paper piecing , but a BOM is always good when there is embroidery in each square, i love those..maybe incorporate some of that. :)

    ReplyDelete
  77. I would like to see a garden theme BOM. By the way, I love your alphabets...perfect for baby name pillows for baby gifts.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Since text fabrics are so popular, a cool BoM would be different type faces (fonts). Each block could be a word, or several letters, or some punctuation marks in different fonts/styles, and it would create a sampler word quilt.

    ReplyDelete
  85. I've never participated in a BoM but would love to join one in the future. One theme I would love is food! It would make a great quilt for the kitchen.

    ReplyDelete
  86. I'd like to see a plant/flower BOM!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. I've not yet been brave enough to try paper piecing. As others have mentioned, I'd like a BoM that begins with the basics of paper piecing, and then gradually progresses onto more complicated pieces.

    ReplyDelete
  88. I would love to see some sort of paper piecing BOM, but one that would be good for beginners. Thanks for the chance to win!

  90. Since you asked..........I'd love to see a BOM that each block made up a whole picture 'scene'. I saw this a long time ago at a quilt show. The quilt measured about 36 x 45 or so...not sure how the blocks fit together (same size or not) but it was a garden scene, gazebo, flowers, fences, paths and walkways with trees, even the back of a house...people too! Everything flowed together to make this 'picture'! I kick myself all the time as I should have purchased the pattern, but I had never done pp before and didn't know I would LOVE it!! It was beautiful...have never, ever seen a pattern online or anywhere else...so there it is, my idea...complicated I know! Love your blog and patterns!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I would love to see a paper pieced BoM of zoo animals or of nature scenes!

    ReplyDelete
  106. I'd like to see the blocks available in different sizes - maybe sizes that would allow to pick and choose different sizes for different blocks in the same quilt. Does that make sense? I'm just tired of BOM quilts that are just twelve 12-inch blocks. Thanks for the giveaway! :)

As far as BOM suggestions, I skimmed other comments and I really like the idea where the blocks would fit together to make a scene of some kind. But that would probably be a huge effort on your part. 140. Loving the Daydream fabrics!

I've never done a paper pieced BoM, but I think some underwater themed blocks would be neat. I'd love to make a SCUBA quilt and there are so many colorful fish and underwater creatures that would make great paper pieced blocks!

    ReplyDelete
  141. Daydream is gorgeous :). Thanks for the chance :).

As christmas is not that far away (think someone said 10 weekends), I wouldn't mind a simple Christmas BOM or QAL :). Or a paper pieced pattern for a table runner for Xmas :).

  144. OK - you ready for my suggestions?????? I have collaborated with Miss Moo on most of these!

Child's Play - which would include a Furby!!!!!!! and other toys of today.
Pretty in Pink - aged at the little princess to dress up - or a tween. Think nail polish, perfume, necklaces etc.
Star Trek - (this one is purely mine) LOL - hey I can dream can't I?????
Australian Animals - in light of the current Woolies trading cards.
    Stars above - different stars
Aboriginal Dreamtime - think rainbow serpent etc.
In the garden - think big bold flowers, a flower pot, a sunhat perhaps.
Cat in the Hat - I could finally cut into my precious Suess fabric that I have been collecting.
    Horses - different heads etc.

And we desperately tried to come up with idea #10 - but to no avail.

    ReplyDelete
  145. I am too afraid of paper piecing so I vote for an easy BOM.

    Thanks for the giveaway

  146. BOM ideas from me: I like the antique cars, pick-ups, motorcycles, since we never do anything that would be good for guy gifts. I also liked Cat in the Hat, Birds: different kinds, nests, flying, but those would be more advanced patterns. Some kind of ideas for boys too would be good. Snowmen maybe, Christmas, Santas workshop would be cool. You'll come up with something interesting, I'm sure.

    ReplyDelete
  147. I would love to do a flower BoM or one with sea creatures (dolphins, whales, etc) or maybe fairies. I also love applique. However, at this time I can not participate. I know many find the time regardless, but I can not. (school + internship)

  148. I have not done any paper piecing, kind of terrified by it, so a fairly easy start without anything too complex would be great for me. Thanks for the lovely giveaway & for sharing the Kate Spain gorgeousness.

  150. I am still having trouble with paper piecing, so something without terribly tiny parts please! Maybe animals?

  151. I love Kate Spain and this line is gorgeous!
I don't know if anyone's suggested, but I think this would be lovely paper pieced into a 'spring garden' themed quilt! Lots of flowers, pinwheels, bees, dragonflies, trees, leaves and petals! :)

  152. I'd love to see some modern swirls paper-pieced.

  155. I think nature-themed BoM's always go over well. I know I like wild birds, deer, squirrels, pine trees and the like. I was very satisfied with how your current BoM was run. I think you've got it down to a science!
