WiP Wednesday – Fireworks

Just for a change of pace… I’ve started a new project. Yes I do love my paper piecing, but a girl needs a break every now and then. So I have started on a quilt for my bed.

Fireworks block in teal

The pattern is Fireworks by Camille Roskelley. It’s similar to the Swoon block but a bit smaller.

Fireworks block in grey

I’m using a bundle of fabrics from two lines by the same designer – Heather Mulder Peterson. I picked out the grey and teal prints from Seaside Cottage and Summer House.

Seriously not my normal colour palette but I do just adore it. Even that little pop of yellow, and I’m not a yellow fan. But it’s perfect in this combination.

A few months back I had grand plans to make these pretties into a giant lonestar for my bed. But I’m fickle. So I changed my mind. Now I’ve started cutting and sewing though, there’s no going back.

Fireworks blocks

Yep, I’m happy so far with how these are coming together. Of course there are a bazillion more blocks to do, but at least I’ve made a start. And it’s a nice change from paper piecing blocks that come with catchphrases (the most recent one goes “Help me Obi-wan Kenobi, you’re my only hope”).

Don’t worry. There are still plenty more Star Wars blocks to share in future but for today, it’s just a revisit to last week’s pic. Oh and I have added a couple more of the patterns to my Craftsy shop as freebies :)

And that’s me for another week!

  16. The fireworks blocks look more complicated than Swoon - what do you think? What about the time for each block? (My Swoons took 2.5 hours each!) Thanks!
