It’s-a me, Mario!
What’s a mum to do when the kidlet is invited to a birthday party and there’s no time to track down a present? Why make one of course! A quick enquiry to the birthday boy’s mum to find out he was a big Super Mario fan.
Well how handy. I just happened to recall a pixellated Mario pattern floating around blogland. Found it right here at Cut to Pieces. Oh yeah and free.
I wasn’t up to all the pixellated pieces (1.5” squares) so I strip pieced Mario. It's not as rude as it sounds.
Unfortunately my dodgy quilt maths led me astray and he ended up a little stretched out of shape. Above dodgy pic from IG as I didn’t take one with the camera during the making of Mario!
But I think he’s still recognisable as Mario and that’s the important thing. Quick enveloped closure on the back and this baby was done.
It was approved by my kidlet and delivered at the party yesterday. I believe it was well received though it was a little hard to tell as a cushion can’t really compete with an on-going soccer match that was happening at the same time.
Now from Mario back to LEGO Star Wars. If anyone needs me, I’ll be paper piecing. Again.

ReplyDeleteYou are hilarious!! I think the slight elongation helps him look more digitized! You are so smart to strip piece instead of all those itty bitty squares!!
