I have been surrounded by words the past few days. And loving it.
Because they are words that look like this:
Happy, positive, encouraging words. That’s right. I’ve started putting together the Fontastic quilt top!
The blocks are from lovely quilters all over the world who tested out my Just My Type patterns, then sent their test blocks to me to put together into a charity quilt. The alphabet patterns are listed in my Craftsy shop now – you know, in case you take it into your head to make your own word quilt .
Please don’t despair if you don’t see your block in this photo! I have extra blocks that I will be making into a smaller lap quilt. This is just the start! This quilt already measures around 55” x 70”.
I’m loving how this has come together. Lots of beautiful colours and piecing! Well done, lovely testers!
As you can see from the top of the picture, rain was imminent (which it has been for the past bazillion days) so apologies for the bad photos. But you get the idea.
I haven’t bothered trying to match all the seams. With 30+ different blocks and quilters involved in this grand plan, seams are all just slightly different. So why drive myself crazy trying to match them? Instead I just spread the blocks out and added in a few squares in solid white to break them up a bit.
Next up. Adding a border of Simply Colour. Ooh fun!
That looks amazing Kristy, all the different colours as well as the inspirational words! Once you quilt it you won't see the seams so I wouldn't worry about seams not matching. Don't show me your rain clouds, we never get any rain here in Adelaide. We're just rejoicing today because we finally have a cool day after what seems like an endless summer this year. Feel free to wave the clouds this way!

It's gorgeous, Kristy! I love the font you used for your pattern.
ReplyDeleteSo cool! I might have to budge and get into paper piecing once I'm making the quilt for my husband - and your numbers (at least two of them) would really come in handy, then. HSTs first, though. :)
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful! You all did an amazing job! I love the contrast between the lowercase and uppercase words!
ReplyDeleteNo doubt about it - you are a paper pieceing whiz! Fantastic. Cheers, Karen
