A charming finish

Charming Stars is finished! With thanks to the lovely girls of the Care Circle of do.good Stitches, we now have our first charity quilt done for the year!

Charming Stars do.good Stitches January quilt

The pattern is Charming Stars from Moda Bakeshop. Such a great pattern for a bee. I was so impressed with how well these blocks all went together. Even with 11 of us picking fabrics from our stashes, there’s still a really lovely cohesiveness to the blocks.

And of course, the back couldn’t be left out. It needed a bit of prettying too!

Added a couple of extra blocks to the back, paired with a nice blue scribbly looking fabric.

And a do.good Stitches label (thank you Leanne) as well. So pleased I remembered to add that in before I started basting hehe! Normally I forget!

All I had to do to the blocks was add some white sashing! Too easy! Put it altogether, rather minimalist quilting (let’s call that my signature style!), and finished with a dark blue binding. Perfect.

January quilt for do.good stitches

This little quilt (or not so little at 65” x 80”) will be going to a family in Tasmania who lost everything during the bushfires. Hoping to get a couple of other quilts to send along too so this one doesn’t get lonely on the journey. Winking smile

Interested in joining a charity bee? Check out do.good stitches. It’s turning into a huge charity bee with lots of circles all making quilts for a good cause. What can be better than that!

Linking up with TGIFF  at Sewing by Moonlight because I am happy  thrilled to have one quilt done and only four more to go!

P.S. I didn’t take these photos underwater despite their appearances. I am still trying to find the “good” spots and times of day for taking quilt photos at the new house!
