Have you checked out some of the fab inspiring projects on the hop this week? I love how varied all the projects are! Plus Jane has a fab giveaway happening on her blog if you want to learn how to paper piece – but hurry it ends tomorrow!
So projects! Inspiration! Paper Piecing! You want more? Well here’s a little collage I prepared earlier of this week’s projects.
1. Cheque book cover by Pixels to Patchwork 2. Hunger Games Wallhanging by Where Jane Creates 3. Leaf Table Topper by Textile Diva 4. Aeroplane vest by Emily the Enabler 5. Logo mug rug by Quokka Quilts |
I’m sure you’re keen to know what’s coming up this week too! Here’s the schedule for this week:
Mon 20th Fiona from Finding Fifth
Tues 21st Beth from Plum and June
Wed 22nd Megan from Jaffa quilts
Thurs 23rd Juliet from Tartan Kiwi
Fri 24th Katy from The Littlest Thistle
Sat 25th Tracey from the Peony Teacup
Hope you’re enjoying the blog hop and finding some fun inspiration. Oh and the hidden giveaways. I mentioned the one over at Jane’s blog, but there’s one happening here at Quiet Play – for the Aussies and Kiwis! Keep reading!
As for the stash addition - I’ve recently been adding more fabric – or as I read it perfectly described on another blog – I’ve been on a fabric bender. At the moment there are just so many gorgeous fabrics about, it’s very hard to resist. Especially when you see what everyone else is adding in Sunday Stash at Finding Fifth!
So as not to seem like I have a fabric-purchasing problem, I’m just going to share a few things today. Plus I’m going to give you a chance to add to your own stash. Seriously, still, keep reading!
Wrapped in Fabric is an online Aussie fabric store run by the lovely Sandy.
I love looking at the different lines of fabric she has available. Lots of fabulous lines, plus some great discounts! Recently, she marked down Make It Quilter’s Cotton to $5.99 a metre. Score! So I bought a ridiculous amount of grey solid (there are only a couple of solids left now – green and orange. I’d apologise for snapping up the grey, but I’m really not sorry). Here’s the good use I have been putting it to:
My Lego play mat is finished! Okay, just the top, but that’s still pretty exciting in my world. Okay it’s not really finished either. Obviously the Lego people (and the big head in the centre) still need faces. But as that requires hand sewing, it hasn’t happened yet. I’m loving that grey solid though – I think it sets the colours off beautifully of the Lego bricks and mini figures.
I also added into my Wrapped in Fabric parcel a fat quarter of this bit of umbrella deliciousness. I sometimes just like to pull the fabric out and admire it. It is sounding more and more like I have a fabric problem isn’t it. Oh dear.
So I guess I’ll share the fabric problem with you! Sometimes, us folks in the Southern Hemisphere miss out on some of the awesome giveaways in blogland. So this time – it’s just for us Aussies and Kiwis (sorry the rest of you lovely folks, sometimes you just need to be selfish - but I promise there will be more giveaways coming up!). I asked Sandy from Wrapped in Fabric if she’d be willing to sponsor the Practically Paper Piecing Blog Hop and the fabulous lady said yes! She has offered up a $25 gift voucher to her shop.
So what do you need to do to enter?
1. Be an Aussie or a Kiwi
2. Pop over to Wrapped in Fabric and browse the beautiful fabric. Tell me what your favourite print there would be to use in your next paper pieced project!
3. For an extra entry, follow my little blog and leave me a comment saying so.
4. Cross your fingers and wait until I random.org the winner on the 26th August (Aussie time) and hope that you’re the winner!
Good luck!
G'Day from Brisbane, Australia! My favorite would be this adorable sheep print:

ReplyDeleteOoh, I'd snap up some Serenade Woodgrain in Wheat to have some wood fabric in my stash for paper piecing. And maybe some Flurry Green Diamond Flower as it's on special. Or maybe the super cute Lil Miss Sew & Sew Black sewing machines!
ReplyDeleteAnd of COURSE I follow you! xx
ReplyDeleteI'm not an Aussie or a Kiwi, but I had to comment on the Lego play mat. It's so amazing! It makes me want to get married, birth a baby boy, and feed an expensive Lego addiction just so I can make one too.
ReplyDeleteI love that play mat ... I might even give paper piecing a go after seeing that!! As far as fabric goes, hubby just ignores the 'paraphernalia' as he calls it, and rolls his eyes as he hands me another sqishy mail.
ReplyDeleteDoes recieveing fabric from WIF this week count as browzing?
ReplyDeleteLoving that mat Kristy!
ReplyDeleteMy choice from the lovely Sandy is the Echo Little Florine - I would love to use it in a project and it satisfies my dandelion obsession!

ReplyDeleteBless you for looking after the kiwis too :-)
ReplyDeleteNow I must admit that I tend to stick to solids for paper piecing, but I do like to use designs for fun details. As such, I am drawn to Fox Trail Friends in Cream by Riley Blake
I follow you :-)
ReplyDeleteOK I could not go past some Saffron Craig prints at Sandy's store.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am a believer!
ReplyDeleteMichelle from OZ, love both sights, how can you expect some-one to choose a favourite fabric. Well..... if I had to solids are always good, or Echo Little Florine to add to my dwindling stash. Just recently found your blog and slowly working my way through. Must admit the lego quilt is one I LOVE!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm a Sydney girl, thanks for the lovely giveaway. My favourite fabric from Wrapped In Fabric is the Petal Pusher Tiny Diamond in Teal by Dear Stella Designs.
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog via email, thanks.
ReplyDeleteHow did I not know about Wrapped in Fabric before? My husband is going to kill you!! I really like Love Birds White Stripe Dot by Riley Blake.
ReplyDeleteI'm new to paper piecing and have just started following your blog. Will you be providing a pattern for the Lego playmat? My almost 4 year old son is getting some Lego for his birthday and I'd love to make something similar.
Hi Tanya - hopefully you pop back and check this as I can't find an email address to reply to you. I'm happy to share the paper pieced patterns for the Lego mini figure and blocks if you are interested!
DeleteI must say I am liking "A Christmas Story Hark Small in Fuchsia By Stof"
ReplyDeleteYes I am well and truly thinking of christmas already, and on the look out for something purple-ish to go with MIL's requests for colour theme this year.....

ReplyDeleteOooh they have both Spotted Owls (in 3 colors!) and Starlings (also in 3 colors!) both by Alexander Henry, they are my all time favorite fabrics :) I have no idea what I would paper piece with them if I could ever bear to cut them up! (I am Australian).
