Sew Kitschy – Countdown is on!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and received some nice fabric-y goodness! We had a great family-filled day and I scored some fab loot (including a Quick Curve Ruler – guess what I’m playing with today!).

So for our Paper Piecing Party this week, just thought I’d pop up a little reminder about Sew Kitschy – a paper pieced BoM for 2014! Woohoo!

Sew Kitschy

The first pattern will be posted on the 1st January – only a few days away now! I will have the pattern listed as a freebie in my Craftsy store for the month. We’re going to start off nice and easy with the simplest of the 9 blocks. Sneak peek for the curious – we’ll be making the oven mitt and pot holder block first!

Sew Kitschy January Block

If you’re wanting to start planning your fabric – you’ll need a FQ of background fabric, FQ of main print for the mitt and pot holder, and just a little bit of fabric for the trim. These of course are estimates (based on EQ7’s yardage calculator) and it will depend on how generous you are with your cuts of fabric when paper piecing! It’s probably a good rule of thumb though to estimate a FQ for each block’s background (in case you’re planning ahead for the other blocks too!).

Sew Kitschy Pattern Sketches

So my friends, I hope you’ll join me for a very fun BoM! We’ll have a linky party each month so we can ooh and ahh over each other’s blocks and fabric choices. It ought to be a bit of fun!! You can check out all the details of the BoM here.

Ooh nearly forgot to mention! Slightly different to last year... I will also be offering the Sew Kitschy bundle in its entirety for sale on the 1st January. That's for those who struggle a bit to keep up each month but still want to join in. So! Eager beavers can buy the patterns on the 1st January, OR you can wait and get the patterns free each month. Win win right? (Hope you think so - thought it might be a fun way to try this so everyone's happy to join in!).

Now I’m off to sew some curves Winking smile Feel free to share what you’ve been up to paper piecing-wise!

  1. I can't wait for this BOM. Just remodeled my 1940's kitchen and want to make a wall hanging from some/all of these blocks. This will be my first major paper piecing project so this should be fun!

I will be working with Turquoise and Tangerine!
