And Sew On – Sewing Sanctuary - the Final block!

The last block of the BoM! Can you believe it? Me neither. It feels like only a short time ago I came up with this block for Wombat Stew. But when I looked back through my blog, it was November last year. Last year, my friends!

So it’s our final block. I hope you've had as much fun as I have with these blocks!

This one is dedicated… to the one I love. My sewing machine.

A Quiet Play Sewing Room Paper Pieced of course

Wouldn’t it be lovely to have a sewing room with a view like this? This block really lends itself beautifully to fussy cutting. For the window, for the photo frames, and then you can use a favourite fabric as the current “project”. I used Seaside Cottage in mine.

Scrap basket of treasures

I even fussy cut a bit of selvedge to add to the bottom of the scrap basket. It reads “Treasures” for isn’t that what scraps really are?!

I cannot wait to see what fabrics everyone uses to make their own Sewing Sanctuary! But might I suggest not to use directional lines like I did – that was not fun to try to line up!

This is now listed in my Craftsy shop as a freebie for the month of September. After that I’ll bundle all the patterns together and list them for sale (as well as individually in case anyone’s missed any so far!).

Sewing room sketch

While this is the last block for the And Sew On BoM, it’s not the end! Oh no – you have to make something with these blocks! We’ll take the month of October off to have a break and get all the blocks made and put together. Then come back in November for Show and Tell! Trust me, you’ll want to come back – there are some awesome prizes lined up. You don’t have to make something with all 9 blocks to be able to enter, as long as you’ve used at least one of the And Sew On blocks in a project you can enter. So there’s some extra incentive for you!

However, we still have prizes for linking up your Sewing room block at the end of September! Make sure you download it, print it, piece it, shoot it and link it back here for a chance at one of these prizes!

  5. "Dedicated to the one I love. My sewing machine." What a hoot! It is a pretty block and obvious that your machine is the center of your quilting world. Thanks for sharing, Kristy!

  10. YAY! Downloaded and ready to go :) Got more time this month, so gonna get the July block done and this one :)

And I think I'm gonna make these into an individual picture series, so 9 small wall hangings to hang around in my sewing room :)

  13. What a great block! I will confess I cringed a little at all the teeny-tiny little pieces...but that's what makes it look so great. I better get stitching!
