I shared the big reveal of what my 37 paper pieced blocks turned into while guest hosting WiP Wednesday. But I haven’t yet posted it here on my blog – until today that is.
May I present… (feel free to insert your own fanfare here)… the unnamed quilt!
See, it had a name. I was going with In Flight. But then I found out there’s another recently finished quilt by someone else by that name. So back to the drawing board. But all I’m drawing is a blank. Any suggestions on a name? ETA: I think I have name for it- just making sure I like it now ;) Thanks for all the suggestions!
I must add here – a big thanks to gorgeous Fiona for helping me with my photo shoot. We caught up the other day as she and her lovely family were travelling through my area. Naturally I took a quilt along and asked her to help me take photos. Isn’t that what all quilters do when they get together?!
Turns out it was a little windy by the river, so a lot of the photos looked like this:
Fiona did a fab job of being quilt model and hiding behind the quilt! Then we decided to try it draped over the rail and timed it just when two pelicans were swimming by. Thankfully the wind didn’t take off the quilt. Wouldn’t that have been a tragedy!!
Here it is laying out in full. I mixed in one darker chevron block in each row. Seemingly at random but I actually spent a bit of time figuring out just where I would put the “random” block hehe! I’m not so good at true random.
That’s what 37 paper pieced chevrons look like all stacked up together. Fortunately not too many seams so it didn’t take too long to remove that paper.
I used Sun Print Feathers for this quilt. I’m seriously in love with this line of fabric. I still have a good bit left over so you’ll likely see it popping up in other paper pieced projects of mine.

ReplyDeleteHi Kristy! This is beautiful quilt top! I see there 'More or Less'. I'm totally hopeles with maths but I think those marks mean more and less. Sometimes names can be so difficult and some other time we have the name before the quilt! Have a great weekend! x Teje

ReplyDeleteI vote for "In Flight". When my daughter was born, the lady two rooms down had just named hers Emily. Didn't stop me! If it is good for kids, its good for quilts. :D
