So the second block to join the collection is Thumbelina. She’s just hanging out under the mushrooms dreaming about what she wants to be when she grows up. I’m thinking she's hoping for 5’6”.
I used the cherry blossom fabric that I used to make my Lulu a dress. Which I’m happy to say is her favourite dress. Though I’m not quite as thrilled that she wants to wear it every single day… and also to bed… sure, that sounds cute, but the tantrum that ensues when I insist on washing the favourite dress… it’s not so cute. Good thing I love this kid.
While it seemed like a good idea at the time, I think the cherry blossom dress makes the block a little more pink than I would have liked. Ah well. Live and learn and paper piece on right?
I do love the little red and white polka dot mushrooms though. They are a bit of cute.
Of course there’s a bit of Sketch snuck in there for the grass. We all know how I love my Sketch and Colour Weave fabrics.
So here’s how my fairy tale quilt looks so far.
Yep. Two blocks. That’s impressive right?! Okay I know, two blocks hardly amounts to impressive but we can pretend.
I did add a new block to the Craftsy shop though! The knitting needles are available now for those quilters who knit... or knitters who quilt..

You are likely to finish your FT quilt before me at this rate and I had help :) I love the toadstools with Thumbelina and think it is so special to have incorporated Lu's favorite {made by mum} dress. I think when you have all the blocks together they will all look perfect!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great block! I don't think the block is too pink and the fabric you chose for her hair was perfect. Don't forget the block will look different once its into a quilt and contrasted with other blocks or sashing. I bet your daughter will love that the fabric from her dress is in there.
