Can't stop making things

Once upon a time, I was the kind of quilter who worked on one project from beginning to end before embarking on a new one. Somewhere along the line I have become the kind of quilter who has a bazillion projects on the go.

Take today for example.

First I quilted a baby quilt I've been working on. It will be done by Wednesday for Le Challenge. But here's a sneak peek of some of the quilting.

Then I decided to make the backing for the other baby quilt I've been working on. No pic of the backing yet but here's the front again - because I like showing it off ;)

Then I switched quilts again and made the binding for Bloom Bloom Pow. I've started attaching it but it's still sitting in the machine looking pretty much like this photo.

Oh yes my friends, that is white binding going on a quilt with a lot of white. A bold choice perhaps but I'm too impatient to wait for my order with more Bubble Gum pink Kona to arrive and I had enough white on hand... so white it is. In addition to being an easily distracted quilter, I am also an impatient quilter. Apparently.

Yeah I don't know what's going on with me. Old me quilter would have finished these in a logical order before moving on to the next. But this inner quilter of mine who insists on exerting herself and making ALL the things? Yeah who knows what we'll do tomorrow. Maybe start a new project instead!

  1. I feel exactly the same way. I'm jumping from one project to another. I get excited too easily so I'm changing my plans all the time, lol.

  2. I'm OK with the white binding ;) I also have to make all the things. I have 4 quilts in progress, 3 more planned and in my head and a Weekender bag in progress too, plus a couple of little gifty things and bee stuff, etc. Thing is nothing ever gets finished as there's just not enough time for all of it!

  3. I've become just the same!! Too many projects on the go... it's madness but kind of fun to be able to just work on whichever one I feel like, or start a new one ;)
Love your baby and bloom bloom pow quilts and that paper plane quilting is totally awesome!!! Can't wait to see the whole project!

  4. I've been having the same problem lately. It happens when you have more ideas in your head than the time to execute them. Don't beat yourself about it.

  13. I'm trying really hard this year to finish one project at a time, last year I was starting quilts all over the place and not finishing them! Looking forward to seeing the effect of the white binding. :o)

  14. Hehe! I think it's because there's not enough time to finish a project before you get inspiration for another fabulous one. So you start on the next fabulous one so as not to lose the inspiration or mojo. Works for me anyway! Joshua just posted a fab string tutorial in grey, orange and light blue - a palette I love and have been itching to do something with for a while. Now I'm going to have to start another quilt...

  16. Who cares about logical order, anyway. :) Love all these things you've got going on. And I just love how the whit of the projects make the colours pop. The Just Colour quilt is already looking just as gorgeous as the Bloom Bloom Pow!

  17. Somebody has to make up for the quilts that I don't make! LOL - yes I am still working on that Jelly Roll Race quilt. *Hangs my head in shame* I have all the inspirations for more quilts - I just want to finish one first.
Love all that you are working on at the moment - great to see that you are keeping busy and getting it done.
