My Sewing Room – Paper Pieced style!

Okay so the only thing this paper pieced sewing room has in common with my real sewing room is that it has a sewing machine! But a girl can dream!

A Quiet Play Sewing Room

I’m Queen Wombat this month in the Wombat Stew paper piecing Bee. Guess what my theme is. Yep, sewing! I decided I couldn’t let the other girls have all the fun of coming up with blocks so I decided to draw up my own to include in my Wombat Stew mini quilt. This one is a 10" block. I hope to have the pattern available in my Craftsy shop soon.

It’s a sewing room with a view. A little Pear Tree top, complete with birdie to admire through the window while I sew.

And you know I can’t resist a bit of fussy cutting. The picture frames are perfect for little scraps of fabric goodness!

There is a Seaside Cottage quilt underway on the little sewing machine (which still needs a needle embroidered on!).

The sewing machine

And the overflowing scrap basket on the floor? It’s labelled with a scrap of selvage that says “Treasures”. Because who knows what wonders can be found in the humble scrap basket?!

For the curious – here’s my original design, side by side with the fabric version. I definitely prefer the fabric version.

Whew – feels nice to have a little bit of sewjo back. Now I guess it’s time to tackle the To-Do List! Wish me luck!

  23. OK! I give in - I've never been particularly drawn to the idea of paper piecing but this lovely block has changed my mind. This is obviously a technique I need to be better at so that I can have a cute little sewing room picture too!
