WiP Wed – Birthday Edition

After a little mini holiday away to Sydney, I haven’t done much sewing over the past week. All the same – I still have a few WiPs happening and a bit of progress!

I’ve added another block to the Fireworks collection – bringing it to 4 blocks now. Slow and steady wins the race. Or at least gets a quilt made for my bed. Eventually.

Fireworks in grey, teal and lemon

Do you get the impression that this quilt isn’t high on the to-do list just at the moment? Somehow because it’s for me, I’m not so worried about when it gets done. No deadline, just work on it here and there.

Fireworks block in Summer House and Seaside Cottage

I do love a bit of fussy cutting. The centre flower is from Seaside Cottage, and the teal/lemon fabric is from Summer House – both lines by Heather Mulder Peterson.

I’m kind of loving this colour scheme at the moment. Clearly my gorgeous friend Gina picked up on that. Look what she packed into a special birthday package for me!

Birthday Goodies from Gina

What a treasure she is. This little package arrived today - on my birthday – a beautiful cheery surprise! Thank you G!!

My other WiP is related to Gina too! She has been making her fabulous fairytale quilt with the Wombat Stew blocks. I’m playing copycat and making one of my own. But so far, it’s just one block – the mermaid I shared the other day.

Paper Pieced Little Mermaid

Now that the epic LEGO Star Wars quilt is finished, I’m keen to get sewing the next block in this series – tough part is choosing which one I’ll do next!

Wip Wed

So that’s me in terms of WiPs for the moment. But in terms of my birthday, I’m not done yet! I thought a little celebration sale was in order. Unfortunately Craftsy doesn’t have an easy way for me to offer a code, or mark down patterns and there are an awful lot to go in and do individually. So instead I have listed the Top 10 sellers for 34% off in my Craftsy shop. No, not just a random number, I’m 34 today and it seemed like a good number to use!

Top 10 Quiet Play Patterns

If you’re really keen for a pattern that’s not listed on here, I’m happy to extend the discount offer to the other patterns – I’m just not up for changing the price on 100+ patterns! So if that’s the case, drop me an email on which one you’re after and I’ll email you a Paypal invoice with the 34% discount then later the PDF Smile Birthday sale is until Midnight 6th September Aussie time!

Happy birthday to me and happy sewing to you!

  13. Wow, happy birthday. I turn 34 on Saturday! The only thing I really want for my bday is to sew all day by myself. Is that awful? Maybe I'll have to get one of your patterns as an excuse. I LOVE your blog. Keep it up 134%.

  16. Happy birthday.

I love the mermaid. The fairy tale blocks are amazing.

It's great that you feel like you can take it easy on the quilt you are making for yourself. It's even better that you are keeping at it even though you feel no pressure to do so :) I have a massive habit of setting things aside, especially if they are not urgent.
